Racking up the miles
Although mine is now deliberately restricted to fun miles only, I noticed that the clock has just recorded 225 K genuine owner-driven miles (most at - er - on the generous side of 70). 5 K more will take me to the moon! Do I qualify for the Telegram from the Queen? And/or from the CMk3OC?

Re: Racking up the miles
You may get brownie points.... Quarter of a million miles is always a good milestone, looks like I have some catching up to do...

Re: Racking up the miles
The V6 is on 229k now, its taken me almost 10 years to add 75k miles to it.
At the current rate it will take another 3 years or so to reach 1/4 million miles.

According to google the Moon is 238,857 miles from earth
Mine clocked around to that this morning !!! My Cavs a Mooner. I wonder if I can make it back again ... She is still my daily driver and still my first car !! I have the CDX 1.7td and she is still going strong !!
what's the highest recorded mileage you guys now of for a Cav.

Re: Racking up the miles
I've not seen proof but have spoken to other owners (not registered on here) before and they claimed to have clocked a Cavalier before (1.000.000) miles obviously. To be honest, it's totally viable, if it was a company rep's car from new, plenty of motorway miles, then the next owner might daily commute up the motorway, I don't see why not, with regular servicing.

Re: Racking up the miles
It would help to have a diesel under the bonnet, and an overdrive to boot with easy access to the M6. Special considerations apply for HC petrol SRi's approaching the 1 mill mark.

Re: Racking up the miles
with good servicing I see no problem with the engine seeing high mileages but its the bodys and other components that can sometimes get overlooked and so a dead body can often be what stops any vehicle from achieving high mileage

Re: Racking up the miles
My old TD has only just been run in then, at a youthful 176k. Apparently I am told it runs sweet as a nut, and doesn't "breathe". I use him daily, and he is a workhorse, so may be in the running for the next Eric The Shed position before long.
If the bodywork holds out, I am going for the moon too.

Lost track of what my SRI is on as the engine has done less then 10k, the clocks say 103k and the shell before i swaped the clocks and engine said 153k.
I used to know of a mk3 1.7td astra that had done over 800k.

My td has 223011 atm (I'm sat in it about to start my domino's delivery job lol). I'm hoping it'll make it to the moon before it goes bang or the boot falls off lol

Mines on 186,000. I bought it on 83,000
....with a brew and my favourite biscuits.
Re: Racking up the miles
Do we have a mileage for one owner?
Mine is an ex-lease car from London.
So I bought it in December 1995 with 23, 000 on the clock.
Today - the old girl is still with us as my daily driver, and clocked about 254, 450 miles today.
So - 231, 000 miles with no other private owners.
She will be 20 yrs old in a couple of weeks B-)
