Does anyone know 100% is the Mk3, either one 88.-95. had an option of 50L fuel capacity or are they mainly 60L ?

I thought they were all 62L myself, never heard of a 50L tank, unless the smallest engine models had them, I don't know.

Well I just had a discussion with a man who claims he had a Cavalier mk3 (read Vectra A)1.8 with a tank capacity of 50L so I just wanted to make sure if anyone knows 100% because I have never seen one.

Don't know for sure about the Vectra A but certainly the UK spec Cavalier was never offered with a 50L tank.

It was 61l for all the compound crank rear suspension cars and 65l for all cars equipped with independent rear suspension (GSi, 4x4, Turbo).

I'm probably totally wrong but I could of sworn the tank on my 89 1.6 had a capacity of 50ltrs, but probably has been clouded in my memory as it was written off in December 1999, the same day as I lost my job,and got dumped by my then girl friend, lol.

Man, that sounds like one of those days that stays with you forever.. I just remember it being 62 L in the Haynes manual for all models. UK spec anyway.

According to Vauxhall (TIS)
Capacities varied as follows: -

For 1.4 1.6 and 1.7D.
61 litres.

For 1.8 and 2.0. 8 valve.

Upto 1990 all IRS vehicles = 61 litres.
Upto 1990 non IRS vehicles = 65 litres.
1991 to 1992 non IRS vehicles = 63 litres.
From 1993 all 1.8 and 2.0 engines = 61 litres.
From 1993 all 4 wheel drive = 63 litres

For 2.0 16 valve and 2.5 litre.

Non IRS upto 1990 = 65 litres.
Non IRS 1991 to 1992 = 63 litres.

From 1993 Non IRS = 61 litres.
From 1993 all 4 wheel drive = 63 litres

If the fuel tank capacity was 50 litres, then this would imply for a Cavalier mk2 / Ascona C. (52 litres for estates).

Those 1.8 and 2.0. 8 valve 'Upto 1990' figures don't seem right though. Are they the wrong way around?

It all seems way over complicated and odd to me too.
But those are definately the figures copied verbatim from TIS2000.

I would have thought that there would be more uniformity.
Such as: -
1 size for the IRS / 4x4 cars.
1 size for cars with mechanical or external fuel pumps.
1 for cars with diesel fuel
1 for cars with in-tank fuel pumps.

And what would TIS2000 be ?

Many years ago Vauxhall and Opel dealers used two pieces of software.

1 = EPC, which stands for electronic parts catalogue.
I use version 3 and I think James uses version 4.
I prefer the older version as it has more part numbers for 80's and 90's vehicles.

2 = TIS2000, which stands for technical info system.
All software had 2000 in it's name in the late nineties and early 2000's.
I use version dated 2007 as it has images for the older cars.
The 2011 dated version does not.

In approx 2012, they moved from TIS to GlobalTIS and TIS2Web.

And a few years ago everything stopped because Peugeot bought Vauxhall.
