Hi folks,
Got the cavalier back on the road after making the mistake of getting the astra.
There is a hissing noise coming from the drivers side front wheel arch and by looking through the crack between the door there seems to be a cylindrical shaped object with pipes coming from it and seemingly where a pipe has perished or something, would this be something to do with the fuel system as the engine doesn't run as steady as it should?
Cheers
Ron

Yes thats the fuel carbon canister, it has a vacuum pipe going to it if i remember rightly which is probably what the hissing is if its split.

Yes - it is the carbon canister
It is also likely that you'll get fuel vapour leaking too,
if you have a split cannister or vacuum pipe.
Vacuum leaks are more of a problem on the single point injection engines as the emissions control system works on manifold vacuum pressure (MAP) whereas the multi-points work on air-flow through the induction trunking.(MAF).
