Best Shock absorber ?

Post by Colin118 »

Hi there, I have a Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 16V SRI ECOTEC, and I am wondering what is the best rear shock absorber for the car. I have lowered it on Cobra springs by 30 mm and just want it stiffer on the back.

Many thanks Colin

Bilstein are a personal favourite of mine.
3 of my Cavs are fitted with Bilstein B4 shock absorbers which are a great replacement for the OE gas shocks fitted to the SRi, V6, GSi and Turbo models.
They are also great as an upgrade over the oil dampers fitted to the non-sporting Cavalier models.

A set of Bilstein B6 shocks would be a good choice in my opinion.
If your budget can stretch and you don't care too much about comfort, a set of B8 shocks would give the best stability through the corners.

I have Bilstein B4s on my lowered LS Cavalier.
They are much less wallowy than the original Monroe shockers.

Firm but not too harsh. But any increase in overall harshness, is down to the stiffer 30 / 40mm lowered Spax springs in my opinion.
