Kan anybody please help,I am having problems with my steering on a 95 cavy 1.8 ls,its shaking worse the faster i go and the full car shudders over 60mph and shudders like mad when braking.
the steeling round corners is getting worse, coz it feels like i am turning the wheel further than usual

iv been told it could be the suspension bushes , or the steering rack coming away from the bulkhead and is a commom problem on cavaliers

any help would be usefull thanks

any knocks or bangs?

cavs dont really suffer from the racks coming away, it was mk2 astras that suffered that.

Virbrations, check the wheels are still round (with all the speed humps its getting too easy to knacker one), if they are get them balanced, if still playing up id be changing the front disks and pads.

there is a noise when turning, its like metal on metal kinda grinding, but pads are ok

but got the front balanced about a week ago and it still gottinworse, had the trackin done couple of weeks before that, what about the suspension bushes?

i didnt think it would be geting worse with warped discs?

It could be lots of things, bottom arms, easiest way would be to jack it up and give the strut a shake see where the looseness is.

Metal on metal doesnt sound good at all.

That was my next thought : -
1) balancing,
2) Egged tyre
3) Warped discs
4) Excessive movement in bearings
5) Excessive movement in track-rods / links
6) Wishbone damage?

top mount bearings and wishbones are in my top 5 too.
However if its all over the place I'd be looking at wheels too as suggested above.

Cheers for those ideas guys
had my cousin look at it and he thinks it might me the bearing that is away
and the noise is from the top of the strut, and told me to go get a full strut from a bearkers yard to replace all
instead of buying all of it seprate

aritie, just thought i would drop an update,

Iv fixed the shaking through ma steering wheel, my m8s bro works for Vauxhall and advised me to swap the front wheels with the back to see if that would stop the shaking, and it worked, ye ha, the misses can get back to driving it again and stop nipping me heed lol.
so think ill need to get 2 new tyres as he said it might be the tyres or the wheels
