Well, sort of. Same casing but different internals and the grubs removed for the oil return/feed for the turbo etc. I wasn't sure if they'd moved the date stamp over the years as I'm struggling to locate the date on an XE bottom end I have. Do you know what the number '3' on Pie's pic represents next to the oil return?

Cheers for the pic Pie, I'll use that in a How2 if you don't mind.

Must be somewhere else on these engines of mine as I've checked the LET in my Turbo and both engines say "125 3" in the place that the date is printed in the pic Pie posted. There is also a different number to the right of the oil return where his pic says "3" in the circle. Hmnn, intriguing...

You can check the year of the engine by looking at the cam cap under the oil filler but that only works if the head and block remain paired, and this one has an replacement Coscast head on it, hence that not being of much use hehe!

Pie did you get under yours and see what's stamped on the front of the block, or on your spare engines?

if you have the original engine then surely would be made just before its first reg and dvla could probably tell you if its original

plus your engine number should link it

This one isn't tied to the car it's in, at some point the engine has been replaced.
