fuel pump problem.

hi there.can anyone tellm where the fuel pump is on a 2.0 ecotec cavalier.its a n reg saloon.on my cavi sri which is a H reg it was on the chassis leg.as im only using the n reg shell to reshell mine id like to keep it as original to mine as possible.

its in the tank under the cover under the back seat

As Gaz said, its the pump/float arm/filter assembly in one. Pop the seat bench out, pull the carpet cut-out square out, and pop off the round rubber plug. Then undo the 8 or 9 bolts, unclip the wiring plug and it comes out.

err no its not, its just the pump, the filter is on the back of the tank and the level arm is a different unit on the bottom

Ye, I meant the small filter on the bottom of the pump. I thought the float arm was there as well.. oh my bad then.

cheers.can i use that petrol tank and just take out the pump and use my own or would i have to change the tank.the tank on it is new and mine is old.

tbh i wouldnt bother changing the tank or the pump just leave it be.

i wasnt sure if the ecotec would have a different fuel preasure pump to mine as mine is an 8v.if it is the same i will just leave it.

it'll be fine and tbh its newer so probably a bit more life left in it.
Fuel pressure is regulated at the rail not the pump

Only the single point injection pumps are no good for your set-up

These only run at 0.7bar (approx), whereas all multi-point engines including 2.0 litre units run at a much higher pressure than this.. approx 2.3 bar or higher, I think.

So as Gaz says, just keep the tank and pump as they are, if they are in better condition.
