Hi
Just wondering if anyone has transplanted a MK2 2.0 inj into a mk3? There is one of our favourite auction site near me for sale, and for all intents and purposes it looks more or less the same, at least on the outside.
So the MK3 I was wanting to convert is the 1.8 SPI to a 2.0. The engine is still in car and all ancilliary components are available, looms, starter, ECU, afm etc. Here it is:

Yes
the 20SEH featured in both the Mk II and Mk III Cavaliers, assuming that by 'MK2 2.0 inj' you mean the 8v unit
I haven't done it myself but I would imagine it's very straightforward

Just remember not all the mk2 2.0 8v engines were the 20SEH 130bhp, Most are 20NE 115.

True
but I can't think of a good reason why any 2.0 GM Family 2 block wouldn't make the transition

Indeed, there is also the lesser known 122bhp 20SE used in Carltons.Super89 wrote:Just remember not all the mk2 2.0 8v engines were the 20SEH 130bhp, Most are 20NE 115.
As long as you have all the loom it should be a straight swap I'd imagine.

There will be some minor differences in connector shape and size .
but mechanically yes, they will fit straight in.
Do be aware though that most Mk2 engines are getting close to 30 years old.
So you should expect 30 yrs worth of wear or neglect / corrosion.

Yes, they will fit - however, take into account that the management looms do not plug straight into the mk3.
So, you will either need a MK3 loom - again, you'll need to check that the crank sense plate is the same on the MK2 and MK3's (I can't see why not if its the same ECU) , or an understanding of how they are wired up and splice the looms together. I have a 1.8MPi from an Astra MK2 running in my Cav (well, I did..)
