How do I change the auxiliary drivebelt on a cdx with ecotec engine?
I've just fitted a timing belt kit & water pump but I couldn't change the drivebelt. It was easy on my old sri eco, ring spanner on tensioner,swap belt.
This time all I could do was release tension with a screwdriver(don't have a 15mm open spanner) and re-fit (now chipped) old belt by loosening alternator bolts. Why? Because by adding air-con they've stuck this bloody big bracket on that doesn't let you in with a ring-spanner and there's not enough clearance between the tensioner bolt and bracket to slip a new belt on, even with an open spanner.
Haynes doesn't cover air-con. How is it done?

pull sprung loaded tensioner with a long 15mm open ended wrench, as access is bad iirc.
seem to recall tensioner has a hole to pop a pin in to hold it slack if required,

draw sketch of route of old belt! especially if u have AC

change by supporting the engine, removing the engine mounting, pop onto alternator last
