Re: Omega
There was no such thing as an Omega 3.0 V6 turbo diesel, although your friends face after he's been to fill up at the pumps and driven off would be a picture.
Police and military issue Omegas were designated the dubious label of 'Special' which means a) it is almost certainly white b) it has poverty spec interior and c) it will have an IRS sticker on the tacho to show that it has been calibrated for the police force. They came with either 3.0 or 3.2 V6 engines (prefacelift and facelift respectively), but that is pretty much where the spec level ends. They were shite really, although many were manual and did have a different LSD to the retail cars.
There are one or two bright red ones which were used by the Met and some blue ones too, but they're few and far between. Other tell tale signs are that police Omegas did not have sunroofs and the tacho itself will show indicator marks in increments of 1 or 2 mph instead of 5mph.

Re: Omega
There is also at least one armoured one that has steel plates in the doors and weighs about 3 tonnes.
"No the temperature gauge doesn't work........
we've driven 150 miles today........
the heater went cold last Thursday........
they check the level when it's serviced don't they?"

Re: Omega
Is that the Jungle Green one used for royal chauffering? Prince Charles was regularly shifted about in a mini-facelift Jungle Green Mica Elite with tan interior, same as mine, 1997/8 registered iirc, although his probably had a little more in the way of bullet proof glass and no doubt someone else drove it for him!planetc wrote:There is also at least one armoured one that has steel plates in the doors and weighs about 3 tonnes.

Re: Omega
I recall it being a blue one, so there might be two.

Re: Omega
Hehe well good luck to him; it might be worth him finding out what engine it actually has though. The turbo diesel or the 3.0 V6?! We would be best placed to help with troubleshooting/advice in advance of any test drive if we knew what it was that he was actually going to look at.
