My lovely 1992 Cav 1.8 LS Auto

Post by Cavalier342 »

So here i go, decided to delete my old post because i got bored of the red stripe pictures lol and start over fresh.

This is what the Cav looked like when i bought her..
Cavalier front.jpg
Cavalier rear left.jpg
Cavalier rear right.jpg
The paintwork was crying for a polish and wax, the nearside door mirror cover was missing, the offside front indicator was missing, with a nice deep dent from a bump when the previous owner had her. After a good polish, and tidying up a few loose niggles, she was a bargain for £350 at 79k miles. And yes, i did wire in 4 LED lights in the grille on the day i bought her. Don't ask...you'll see why later :thumb

Apologies for the crap quality, didn't ever get a decent camera so i just used my phone.
Anyway, some way down the line, i spruced her up and added a few personalized touches here and there, along with an SRi backbox. I also sprayed the door handles and mirrors to match the body colour, although the paint is flaking off the handles, so i need to smooth them down and retry.

I've took off the small amber reflectors off the bumpers now, i was in the process of trying out different ideas, you know how it is :thumb

I've refurbed the mud guards, basically by repainting the vauxhall griffin :) Stands out more now. I'm toying with the sticker idea too, thinking where to place them or remove them or whatever. I like changing my mind a lot....lol. And no, i did not accidentally park up in the Amazon rainforest

This is probably the picture that i'm most fond of. The Kings Blue doesn't show up well but i like it.

Ok, just a few pics to explain the whole LED thing from before...
Basically i got hooked on LED lights a while ago and kind of managed to wire in over 500 different lights in the Cav. I've removed everything now, apart from a couple that i've refitted, in the clock, for instance. But here's some of the interesting pics...

All in all then, she's been a great car and i don't even want to dream of selling her. Just gonna keep her tidy for now, as she's just hit that famous milestone, the good old ton. Enjoy the pics guys, i'll post up some more sometime soon. :)

Ye i know how it looks lol. Don't worry, behind me was a closed gate, as it leads to a school car park. Nobody drives there unless the school is open. :thumb

Ok, as promised, i would get some high quality pictures up, and the other day i bought me a good old digicam :D Just a cheap one but it can take 8mp pics. So here's a few better quality pictures of my pride and joy. No roundabouts or double yellows this time round  :thumb

Apologies for the slightly dirty exterior, she does need a good Turtle Wax washing session and some tire shine spray. Still, at least the pics turned out well.

When i next get a chance, i'll snap some shots of my engine bay and the rest of the interior. Unfortunately when i did so the other day, i had the camera focus set to close-up which blurred it :wall But i'm quite happy with the pics so far. Please enjoy :D

Sure is a very nice example - looks sweet :thumb

The head-light brows give the effect that the bonnet looks really long and low, almost like a Callibra bonnet.

My car is a similar colour (Polar Sea Blue - 13L) and that colour also reproduces very dark in photos. Looks almost black in certain light conditions. :)

Thanks dude. I know what you mean about the eyelids, I only toyed about with the idea but decided to keep them on for now. I like the fact that they blend in with the grille. I decided to leave the indicators unmasked, as from the side it resembled a calibra but it didn't suit the Cav. So as you can see, just a few personalised touches, nowt over the top i think. :thumb

Ok, here's a few more pics of the engine bay and the interior. This time, it's 8 megapixel mode.

Yes, the front floormats do have a NISSAN logo on them, they are actually from my old Sunny, but hey, they are easy to clean and fit really well :D

Image[/img]

In the rear footwells, bringing back to Japan, i have indeed the floormats from my old Colt. Same reason again, easy to keep clean, easy to fit :D

Still very nice and tidy - the 1800 isn't the easiest engine to keep clean.

Nice simple choice of colour scheme on your engine components...

Sweet !!! :cool :thumb

Cheers :D I do like keeping some things nice and simple. Hence matching the air filter housing colour to the cam cover. I admit, it is slightly tricky to get to every nook'n'cranny on the 1800, but i do the best i can and just get on with it :cool
Thanks again. :D

Just a few more pictures that I was looking over in my photo albums. Can't wait to get her back on the road. :cry
These were taken in the New Forest, Hampshire. They look 50 times better in full screen though.

She will be, once I get her running again. Standing in the drive since November now.. waiting till payday, then slap on a new rad, then MOT and tax. That's the plan anywho. Just miss driving her really.

Do you have an addiction to self adhesive items?

Used to :D As you somehow possibly may be able to tell :) But I like putting on little details and bits. They say it's the small things that make a difference. I just like detailing and playing around with different ideas. Besides, silver stickers and the opel badge go really well with the Kings Blue, don't you agree? As for my China Blue Cav, that's staying as it is. Unfortunately it's not a colour of choice for detailing and stickers.

I've never been a fan of shopping lists, never will be. I just like the cav as it looks honest, fairly standard and is a nice colour.

Yellow goes nicely with China Blue, if you put some flowers on it you can make it look like a plate? ;-)

I appreciate the positive comment. :thumb
The eyebrows I actually made myself quite easy. I just cut and fitted some electrical tape, primed it and sprayed it. The idea was to remove them easily should I need to. Not the neatest of jobs, but hey, it does the trick.
