An addition to our fleet: a Cavalier Turbo 4x4
An addition to our fleet: a Cavalier Turbo 4x4
Thought I'd make a project thread just to keep up to date.
These cars are my dream cars wanted one since the year dot.
The spec of the cavalier is nothing ground breaking but I prefer a standard example.
Engine wise there is a dump valve and a scorpion 3" exhaust system.
Koni shocks and springs all round
Vauxhall mudflaps
Heko wind deflectors
Apart from that it's pretty standard.
Did have a full restoration on it a few years ago at vauxhall (yet to receive pictures but I've seen them)
There's no rust what so ever.
Plans are to keep it tidy
Service it
New pads all round and brake fluid
Sort the tracking
New head unit
Fix the speakers on the drivers side
Treat the leather
Use it !!
Here are the pics when I went to look at it
My dads cav behind
On the way home

Really really nice finish! How much did you give for it. Some great quality work there, the arches look good not like some

Re: Another addition to our fleet a GSI 4x4 C20LET
this cav was owned for many years by a friend of mine who was on the CTOC forum, used to go by the username of Stomps, he then sold it to another member of the forum called Steva, who did all the work you see in the pics, you
have a really nice cav there, I wondered where it ended up when Steva sold it, i don't mean to be picky but its not as your title says, GSI 4X4 C20LET, its a genuine cavalier turbo 4x4, not gsi, there a different model, Ads

That looks pretty damn impressive. Alot of attention to detail has been paid there.

Welcome to the forum, and thanks for sharing your pictures.
As Ads has said, this was Steva's car. He had a thread on here documenting his progress. You can view it here if you're interested:

Also, Ads is right; there is no such thing as a GSi 4x4 C20LET. Your car is a genuine Cavalier Turbo 4x4. The GSi was the model that predated the Turbo (pre-facelift) and it was not sold in turbocharged form. There were a few 4x4 variants of the GSi manufactured (in addition to the FWD model), but these are normally aspirated C20XE-equipped Cavaliers. Not that the Turbo is common (well, I own three, but you know what I mean, hehe!), but yours is very definitely a Turbo as opposed to a GSi.
I think I supplied the gearknob, boot lid badges and a few other bits for your car during the build
What plans do you have for the ol' girl?

I'm guessing that they could tell the difference between a bonnet and a boot lid by the time that they were finished?!lowrider dave wrote:That garage certainly knows how to do it. Excellent work.

Lol most body shops these days are pretty crap. Quantity over quality, I always find some kind of minor defect in the finish, a bit like my painting lolhumbucker wrote:I'm guessing that they could tell the difference between a bonnet and a boot lid by the time that they were finished?!lowrider dave wrote:That garage certainly knows how to do it. Re: Another addition to our fleet a GSI 4x4 C20LET
Thanks for all the comments guys ! I was never sure about the gsi thing, how do I change my title ?
Atm the turbo is sat in dry storage over winter I plan to change the pads all round and change the brake fluid.
Also if anyone could help with this it would be brilliant
There is quite a bad fuel leak from the fuel feed pipe
It's on this join,
Now I think that the clip nearest the top of the picture is goosed, but I may change the actual pipe aswell whilst I'm there. I thought the fuel pipes were usually one piece not little clips everywhere.
All the work that has gone into this cavalier is fantastic , real credit to who's done it.
I've always wanted one and in this colour so I will be taking very good care of it but also using it won't be a trailer queen

You could get some fuel pipe clamps, block the feed with them, remove the clips, cut the end off of the affected hose, refit, unclamp. Or just get entirely new hoses if you are concerned that there is already a cut and shut operation going on!
I'll change your title for you in a moment...

Re: An addition to our fleet: a Cavalier Turbo 4x4
Congratulations It's a Cavalier Turbo fest this month, with yours and Mark's car in Total Vauxhall, mine in Retro Cars etc. A shame that yours is listed as a GSi 4x4. Is that the info that you sent in to the mag?
Re: An addition to our fleet: a Cavalier Turbo 4x4
Well done buddy. As Dan has said it is a shame that it is listed as GSi and was going to ask you the same question.
