Nice sunset pic Andrei!
A garage just down the road from me has the locking kit, so given the feck all space there is for that job I just gave the job to them!

The rollers on my v6 are metal :scratch

I know 12 years ago when it had the 2 litre ecotec engine in it had plastic rollers, but they were change to metal when I had the water pump done.

She's still going, but more of a weekend/day-off motor now...

List of things to fix include:

Oil leak from the back of the block, leaking onto exhaust downpipe and alternator.. Possible oil pressure switch..

Possible rocker cover gasket/s blown, in need of removal/replacement...

Nackered radiator fan resistor, unable to run low fan speed. (continued below)...

Nackered fan temperature switch (to be replaced).... Only running high speed with the needle barely off the blue...

Whine coming from transmission on cold starts, gear oil change due, but possibly something more serious...

Some sort of knock coming from the front end, definitely not bushes, had the track rod ends done recently, possibly wishbones.

Exhaust back box is falling apart and in need of replacement, on the list to do....

Traction Control light is coming on every now and then, need to be looked at...

Timing belt/ Water pump/ Thermostat need replacing soon, thermostat is stuck open and timing belt is worn between the teeth. No idea when it's last been done....

Many many rust spots along the bodywork need looking at....

And a bloody good polish/wax but with our lovely weather we're having, that ain't gonna happen...

Got the tax/MOT on my auto this month, so just going to sit back and see what happens.... :thumb

Funny enough I was gonna cruise the countryside today for some stormy scenes and photos, but decided not to as there isn't much left in the tank and I'm a bit short until payday... Will get some photos up soon, when I actually make progress on the work..

Ok, an interesting update today, plenty of pictures so bare with me....

First of all a massive thanks to Chris for popping round today and helping me with electric bits, definitely wouldn't have managed it by myself, so cheers dude, got some of the things sorted that I wanted to get sorted. :thumb

Now, we start off by retro-fitting a gizmo which I picked up yesterday for £25 from lem0nmonkey.

This gizmo!!! :D

I wanted it for purpose over style, as having a voltage meter in the cabin is a great feature I think, don't know why all cars don't have one....... The oil sender I'm not worried about for now, he earthed the gauge so it wouldn't read off the scale... Also Chris supplied me with a re-circulation switch as I wanted to fill the gap a bit instead of having just blanking plates. Would like to add illumination to the switch but that's for another day.....

Now you may be wondering why in the second photo I show the DID loom and plug? Well I wasn't sure if the Turbos had the gauge lights on a dimmer switch, like the digital clock, so I thought instead of wiring the light illumination on the gauges to the cigarette socket, I got Chris to wire it to the DID loom illumination, so that it works with the dimmer switch... Useful if I want to turn everything down at once at night..... (If Robsey is reading this we used a soldering iron :ugeek: )

Photo of the gauges lit up..

Image

They aren't bright in the photos due to the camera exposure being too dark, but are clear enough to see in person. About the same brightness as the digital clock, which is totally fine.

Short video of the dimmer in action: (not sure how to embed the video so it plays on here, so link is there for now)

http://s335.photobucket.com/user/Cavali ... 0.mp4.html

So that's that done, and secondly Chris helped me sort out my interior light, on which the map lights would not work, and it was stuck on a timer, so couldn't turn it off via the switch, it just timed out after a few seconds.

Found out that there was no live going to the thin black wire on the right, which was for the map lights I believe,

Image

So he piggy-backed off the main live, (If Robsey is reading, we used a soldering iron :ugeek: ) and now presto, I have working map lights, AND the main light can be turned on/off as required, no longer being stuck on the timer :D

Image

All in all a great result, I now have gauges and 5 working courtesy lights :D

Cheers Dan, apparently Chris said I got the rare gauges with the red needles, is that right? His ones have orange needles, he said the red needle units are more rare or something.. You'd know?

I think you need to change the bulb in the oil pressure gauge... seems a bit dimmer than the other...
Looks great though!!!

He's right, the red needle ones are rare, Most have the orange needles but most people dont notice. My SE9 has the Red ones not sure what other Calibras have them, Maybe random or maybe just the v6 models? who knows lol

If Chris fancies coming round my gaff, he can help me do my gauges that have been waiting for me to get off my arse and get them done! Good job Chris and Andrei, looking good.

The black wire for your interior light should only be live with the ignition on, which turns off the center light & feeds the map lights. The center light will still come on when you open the door or pull the switch out.

Yes but it didn't work like that before... Does work properly now..

I replaced the bulbs before we installed the unit anyway with the best ones I had available. Both as bright as each other, it's just the camera angle. :thumb

Cheers guys, I do like it myself, was going to keep the car 100% original but thought why not add a subtle OEM mod :thumb

Stopped for a few photos on the tip run today. I quite like the work horse look that it has with the trailer. :cool

Thinking of going for a rear spoiler, an SRi one or something. Not going to go aftermarket as I want it to look subtle like it was there from the beginning.
