Project Cavloon

Post by Hayward691 »

Bought the car from Tamworth...
She Is a 1993 L reg 2.0 8v LS I Auto... Damn near mint!!!
Engine needs a tart up... But that's cool :D
72,000 on the clock...
Paid 530 for her and she came with a full tank of fuel :D

Only real patch of rust...

Got busy today... raided my old Cav parts...

So far have fitted my Angel eye head lights and GSI grille (Needs painting)
I have some tinted rear lights and maybe M3 mirrors... Not to sure yet...
Have my old 17" Alloys but they need tyres before going on and a pair of of GSI skirts with door mouldings...

Not really going for a GSI rep but might be tempted by the front bumper if its cheap enough... LOL
Want some fog lights for sure!!!!

Interior wise...
MINT!!!! not a stain to be seen... :)
Very basic... Not map reading lights or sun visor mirror lights... I have these both in my garage and will be going in :D
Will be getting the turbo gauges and heated seat switches again :)
Have some Logo Lights to fit in the door slams... :D
Loads of plans...
No money at the moment...

I'm just so glad to be back in a cavalier!!!!
Not making that mistake again!!!

Looking good. :thumb

So far so good, personally I'd avoid the M3 style mirrors as I don't like them at all, but other than that, get a panel for the rear end, I reckon she'd look great then :thumb

72000 is piss all, not even run in yet. Good start.

I have to say it, them lights and the grill look awful! It looked much better as standard, definately dont put the mirrors on.

Get some alloys on it, lower it. Gsi kit or sri kit and job done 8-)

But each to there own and all that :)

A think I'd prefer the original grill too tbh , at least until the gsi ones painted the same colour .

I agree with dan and John

I would sell the lights and grill and m3 mirrors and with the funds drop her on her arse and put some bigger 17" alloys on her. Then she will look the nuts

I have my old 17s to go on... just need a set of tyres :(
and then the tracking... not making that mistake again!!!

Not really done too much... Dug out my old switches, front fog and all that...
Just need the actual fog lights now :(

Retro fitting the interior light with map reading lights and sun visors with illumination as mine didn't have these and I had my old ones in storage...

Once I get the money together and a GSI front bumper and poss lip spoiler... Will be getting bits painted...
Until then though, Its clearing debts and moving house...

I am hoping to go -40 If anyone has a very cheap set of springs? Not to bothered about shocks atm...

Also... Really want the air con switches... to finish the look of the heater panel...
Anyone selling any????

Started looking into the wiring to install the mirrors and lights...
As this is the LS model it doesn't have the loom already in there so have to make my own...

The only difference will be... my lights will be permanent live...
Whereas the standard map lights don't work with the ignition on... or something like that :/

Basically I'm piggy backing the live and earth from the original interior light...
Was just looking over my wires and I seemed to have missed one out, so will be sorting that in a sec and fitting them on my lunch break tomorrow...

Also had a slight issue earlier... I think i ran it a bit hard earlier and over heated a caliper...
A bit concerned, but seems Ok now... Will be keeping an eye on that one...
Might be in the market for some new ones...

Overheated a caliper? :scratch Didn't think that was possible unless maybe you were carrying a ton of soil in the back and did an emergency stop downhill.

Due to moving my funds are a bit low atm... But was roaming eBay last night and stumbled across the panel for heated seats and traction control...
So gave the.credit card a tad visit... :)

I didn't notice untill after comiting to buy that it was only the t/c switch with it...
No big deal... I have the heated seat switches... Just need to find if my model has the connectors hidden away.

Also turns out my paypal has been frozen due to someone claiming a refund... Grr!!!!

I got the sun visors in, just got to make a new loom for them :)
That's todays lunch break sorted :)

Surprised you managed to find one to be honest, I would have thought they would be rare.

If it's only an LS, I doubt it would have the loom there, but you never know with Vauxhalls!

I might pop in in the afternoon if you're still about unless you're on the early today like me.
