Better late than never, here are my photos from the 2019 VBOA National Rally!
Our day started on Friday morning, adding a few finishing touches to the cars.
No matter how much I plan, I always seem to end up cleaning the cars 10 minuets before I need to leave!
After that we needed a quick pit stop:
We eventually left at about 2pm but the traffic was so bad we didn't get there until half eight and when we arrived we were the only ones on the Cavalier and Chevette club stand apart from Kevin in his MK2 Cavalier Calibre.
The following morning we were greeted by rather disappointing weather:
The first thing we did was have a dam good look around the excellent trade stands; this year was especially good for Mk3 Cav parts!
The had everything including the kitchen sink!
I picked up a ton of spare parts this year:
I couldn't resist these:
Despite the bad weather, Saturday saw a good turnout considering it was the first year at Sywell.
Here are a few shots of various stands and cars:
Interloper Talbot Alpine:
Being a working airport, there were other sight to see as well:
That evening saw a beautiful sunset:
The Cavalier a Chevette Club were one of the first in the arena where we celebrated 25 years of the club:
Sunday also saw much better weather, perfect for photos:
There were plenty of other thing to do for families too:
Good to see such a good showing of the Bedford vans this year:
I spotted plenty of MK3 Cavaliers around:
Here are my two favourite entries into the chairman's cup:
Unfortunately neither of them won; the cup was given to a rather garish MK3 Astra.
After the winner was announced, as is customary, the field slowly began to empty and before long we were some of the last ones left:
It was a brilliant weekend and it was great to see everyone who attended.
Looking forward to Vauxfest!

Good to see a good turn out.
Some very nice pictures too.
Typical that the Cav 3 spares were in abundance this year seeing as we didn't attend, and the bank balance is non-existant.
Initially I had held off from this event this year, as the car really does need some tlc again... and again.
Three days before, the wife decided that we would be going on the Saturday.
But as usual, our plans failed to materialise.
Much to the wife's annoyance.. she was very angry to miss the rally. And I mean very!!
We WILL be at the VauxFest though, even with a saggy head-lining and generally lack-lustre interior.

Sorry you didn't make it Robsey.
If it's any consolation the weather on Saturday wasn't very good anyway. It rained from about noon until the early evening.
