Vauxfest 2018 - Billing Aquadrome 1st - 2nd September

Re: Vauxfest 2018 - Billing Aquadrome 1st - 2nd September
The gathering in one area as such is a goer,
It is just that I am the gobby sod stirring up the interest, not Vauxfest themselves.
(And not Billing either).
So it is a three group idea.
Billing - providing a venue, stalls and facilities.
Vauxfest - providing the official organisation and planning.
Robsey - Negotiating for a Cavalier Mk3 only area to celebrate 30 years.
Just happens to be that Richard who is organising Vauxfest is a leading member of the Cavalier and Chevette club, which happens to have Mk3 Cavs in the group.
So possibly a little friendly bias

Just posted up on the cavalier corner group so time will tell, I have had a word with my mate Tim, he is well up for joining and I think his brother Jamie will also be attending so that's another cav and a pair of friendly faces

It is nearly upon us...
Only 3 weeks to go.
Time to start prepping up those lovely jalopies, because it will be here and gone before you know it!!

Re: Vauxfest 2018 - Billing Aquadrome 1st - 2nd September
I am a little concerned that the weather has changed a lot.
Especially near to me. (East Manchester).
The last time I tried to attend, the whole place flooded.
The long term forecast currently shows no issues for Northampton...
So fingers crossed.
I am hoping that there is no "Curse of Robsey" that spoils it for everyone this year.
To be honest, if it does all go okay, it will be the first time that I actually step onto Billing Aquadrome soil for one reason or another.
Probably because of the perceived curse - lol.
Come on then guys and gals..
Is that our lot?
Just 6 cars? (Depending upon how many cars James and family attend in).

Unfortunately I am having to bow out of this one for a few reasons. Robsey, I'll update you via WhatsApp / Text a bit later on.
Hopefully, it'll be a great day for all those who attend.

Re: Vauxfest 2018 - Billing Aquadrome 1st - 2nd September
It is a shame that work (and various other things) have got in the way for you Gary.
It has been a long time since our last chat, coffee and burger.
Hopefully the whole admin team can meet at next year's VBOA or Vauxfest.
I am still amazed that there is no real news or information from the VauxFest nor Billing facecloth pages and websites.
How can they expect people to go if nobody is told.?
I think I have posted 10x more posts on here and other websites (Vectra-c.com, Opcomusers, Cavalier Corner and VxON), than any of the "official parties".
You may not be missing anything Gary, apart from about a dozen or so Cavaliers alone in a big muddy field.

Re: Vauxfest 2018 - Billing Aquadrome 1st - 2nd September
So what time do most people aim to arrive at this event & get parked up ? I know people are travelling from all over the place so it can't be a strict a deadline. Google maps recons it's going to take me 2 1/2 hours so I was thinking around 09:30 - 10.00 am.
Re: Vauxfest 2018 - Billing Aquadrome 1st - 2nd September
I'm aiming for 10 or just after depending on traffic.

I think gates officially open about 10am.
It will take me 2 1/2 hours too, but we will be unlikely to arrive before 1 pm.
I will be bringing a few bits and bobs with me too. Stuff left over from my restoration, that I never used.
Some new bolts and bushes, and some ebay parts reported to be in great condition, even though some need a bit of attention.
James is camping over the night before, so probably be there bright and early.

Re: Vauxfest 2018 - Billing Aquadrome 1st - 2nd September
Sorry no idea.
There are only two fields, and I am sure the staff on site will know where we will be.
I think it is a good idea to ask at the gate for the "Agreed Cavalier Area", and if staff are unaware, then they should liaise with Richard the organiser.
Or if James is camping, then hopefully he can forward any advance information.

Sounds like a plan, 'Agreed Cavalier Area' it is then!

Re: Vauxfest 2018 - Billing Aquadrome 1st - 2nd September
Lets hope that they realise that there is an "agreed cavalier area".
Richard and Co have not been very clear about plans for the weekend.
It may well be a Cavalier only event, because no other forums are discussing it.
There was not a single answer to my events post on Vectra-c.com.
And on OpComusers, the only response was from a fella admin / contributor who does not own a Vauxhall.
At least the weather should be nice all weekend.
All we need is for people to attend.

Re: Vauxfest 2018 - Billing Aquadrome 1st - 2nd September
I'm here already Rob.
I've spoken to Richard there will be a precession of Mk3 Cavs around the show ground. Apparently classic car monthly are going to have a reporter here taking photographs too.

Ah okay.
Hopefully, I will be there in time for the procession.
Do you know any more about parking arrangements?

I think all the MK3s are parking together in Shellduck 2.
Look for my LS.

It's sounding like a really good weekend ahead.
Nice weather, a procession and a magazine photoshoot! What more could you ask for
The timing of your show plates is perfect
I look forward to reading the experiences and seeing the pics...

Re: Vauxfest 2018 - Billing Aquadrome 1st - 2nd September
Not a bad turn out Cavalier-wise.
11 including about 5 or 6 from the forum.
Sadly, I think there were only about 50 or 60 cars all-in.
I believe the photographer and parade procession will be tomorrow.
Pictures later.
A 290 mile round trip in the Cav today.
It didn't miss a beat.
And James did his magic again with the Tech 1.
I am glad to say James, that I gave you the correct code index / program number this time. 16,500 impulses (6500) returns a value of 73 mph when the instruments say 70mph.
So not a million miles out.
