VBOA International Meeting, Cork, Ireland, May 22-25th 2015

From the VBOA website:

The event will be based at the Hibernian Hotel & Leisure Center Mallow Co. Cork from May 22nd to the 25th 2015 and will be visiting some of the most beautiful areas and venues that counties Cork and Kerry have to offer, along with enjoying some of the most relaxing activities available . It looks like being an event that will be remembered by all. Mallow is a town in north Cork and is at the crossroads of Munster and is an excellent central location to base the 2015 VBOA International. Friday May 22nd: entrants will arrive at the Hibernian from 3pm (15.00) and get to know each other and can also relax in the Hotel leisure centre . There will be an optional short run to Doneraile Wild Life park (7 miles - 11.5 klms) - entry free. See www.heritageireland.ie/donerailewildlifepark for details .

Dinner will be served at 9 pm (21.00).

Saturday May 23rd: depart Hotel at 9.30am (09.30) and drive (37 miles - 59.7 Klms) to the historic town of Cobh and spend 3 hours there . There is a wide selection of things to do like a visit to the Cobh Heritage Centre, a 1hour 15 minute cruise around Cork Harbour (Cork has the second largest natural harbour in the World) or a trip on the road train tour of the town (charges will apply). Or you can also just stroll around and explore this beautiful town and see what it has to offer at your own pace .(www.visitcobh.com).

Departure from Cobh will be at 2.00pm (14.00) and then we cross the river Lee on the River Ferry to the southern side of Cork habour and drive (13 miles - 21 klms) to the seaside village of Crosshaven, passing by one of the oldest sailing clubs in the world . Then drive a short distance to the amazing Camden Fort Meagher for a visit (www.camdenfortmeagher.ie). Entrance charge 5 euro.

We will leave Fort Camden at 4.30pm(16.30) and drive the 36.5 miles - 60 Klms back to Mallow and prepare for the Grand Dinner at the Hibernian at 8pm (20.00)

Sunday May 24th: depart Mallow for Kilgarvan at 9.30am (09.30) to visit the local Motor Museum - a distance of 50.5 miles - 81.3 klms.(www.kilgarvanmotormuseum.com) - entry 6 euro including tea /coffee.

Following our visit to this charming family run Museum we will head for Killarney National Park at 1.00pm (13.00) via the beautifull town of Kenmare and a drive along the N71 over the famous Molls Gap passing Ladys View and Torc Waterfall a distance of 25.2 miles - 40.6 klms. At Killarney National Park (entry free) some excellent views of the Killarney lakes can be seen. (www.killarneynationalpark.ie)

We will have to tear ourselves away from Killarney at 5pm (7.00) and return to Mallow for our farewell dinner at 21.00 .

Monday May 25th: time to say farewell to new and old friends and depart the hotel after breakfast.

Bill has finalised a deal with the Hibernian Hotel for a three night stay including bed, breakfast, and dinner for two people sharing a room @ 277 euro per room. This will include the use of the leisure centre. Family rooms are available and single occupancy will cost extra.

All bookings at the hotel will be done directly by entrants after they first register for the the event at www.vbooci@gmail.com or www.corkbillkate@hotmail.com. and receive a booking code and entry number . The special hotel rate can be extended should people like to stay longer than three nights. They have also secured an excellent deal of 25% off your chosen ferry crossing with Irish Ferries, the official ferry company for the event. Check www.irishferries.com for routes, times, crossings and all ferry details. A special booking code with details for booking ferries will be given to all entries . Entry to the event is free.

This looks like another great event in the making!
