Retro Cars at The Rock - Bank Holiday Monday 21st April

Post by humbucker »

Struggling to find something to occupy your time this Bank Holiday Monday? Then join us at Retro Cars @ 'The Rock' 2 for an informal classic car show and the opportunity to take your motor onto Europe's fastest racing circuit (there's a free parade lap for attendees too!). Who knows, you might even spot yourself in a forthcoming issue of the magazine :p

The proceedings kick off at around 10am at Rockingham Motor Speedway, and it's free to attend (£35 if you want track time and a skid pan session - bring both parts of your driving license). There's a dedicated parking area for your retro ride, but all are welcome irrespective of the age of their cars. Click the link for further info. See you there.

Keen eyed observers will spot NickSRi's plod squad SRi and my Turbo 4x4 in the poster artwork, and we're both pictured chewing the fat in the middle thumbnail, haha! The full report from the last event is in the latest issue of Retro Cars, although Monday's 'sequel' event looks to be bigger and better with a much wider range of classics heading down. Hope to see you there. Bring your Cavalier!

Think I'll come along to this.

Was thinking about taking the LS but the weather doesn't look too good and I haven't fixed the leaking yet.

What car is everyone else taking? Will you be in your Turbo Dan?

Yup, I'll be taking my Turbo. The last time it was out was at the last Retro Cars event at Rockingham (back in March!).

There are a wide range of cars confirmed already, from the General Lee, to Morris Minors, our Cavaliers, a supercharged 1958 Anglia 100E, a vintage Lotus Europa, Pug 205s, Pontiac Firebird, Scirocco, Reliants, Beetles etc. plus whatever else is there on the day (non-Retro Cars event motors enjoying an open track day).

Lowrider Dave said he'll be coming in his V6 too. Should be great fun.

I hate to let the side down but I've decided not to go.

It's a long way for me and I fear that the bank holiday traffic on the M25 will spoil my journey home.

Hope you all have a great time, maybe I'll join you for the next one.

Bit of an arse - got halfway up the A34 and the car started to misfire, stopped at services for food and a look see and then it didn't want to start. Called AA, waited until the earth has frozen over - long story short, Dis pack fubbared. Spent this afternoon replacing it. Curses!

It was great. There must have been 70+ cars in attendance - everything from my Turbo to a range of vintage VWs, Porsches, some fruity Fords, a vintage Lotus Elan, Rover P6, Minis, Volvos, Peugeot 205 GTis, Triumphs, a 12v Senator, an XE'd Opel Kadett coupe, VW campers, Nissan Skyline, a few Beemers... I'll post some pics later (I still haven't posted pics from the last Retro Cars meet lol!). The next event will be in June iirc. Will let you know as soon as details are announced.

Show and shine was awesome, track time was great (I really need better brakes!), the parade lap was good fun and there was a skid pan session in the afternoon.
