Hi
I pulled the tank out of my cav saloon as am doing extensive refurb and on removing the filler neck the whole inside of the filler neck is rotten, mainly the inward facing bit with the big hole but also the bottom bit where rain would sit.
Just wondering if anyone has repaired this section and how they went about it. I've a fair idea that I need to get a piece of steel with a hole matched to the diameter of the rubber insert round lip but need to build up the inside before putting the holed panel on the back and tacking up. This part looks trick especially since most of the rust came out with the neck and didn't really leave any reference points for repair panels.
Cheers

More than likely a fabricate repair job or find a car that's breaking to cut it out of
....with a brew and my favourite biscuits.
