Insurance value

Post by Mk3alan »

My annual insurance for my car is very reasonable (Classic Policy) but I am aware that if the worst come to the worst I would probably only be reimbursed the market value.
I also have a 1952 Morris Minor which I have insured on an 'agreed value' basis, the value of which was determined by the Morris's Club Technical Adviser.
For the same to apply to my Cavalier I would have to have it valued - where would I start?

i have my cavalier turbo insured on a classic policy, and I have a agreed value of £4000 on it, I told the insurance company the amount I wanted, but I had to send in a load of pics so they could assess its condition and agree if it was worth that amount, Ads

I have done the photos with the Morris
So you came up with your own value? How did you get to that figure?
I bought the car for £3950 back in 1996 (still have the ad)! is that where I ought to start!

I gave a figure of 4K because at the time that's was the going price for a cav turbo in excellent condition, but I think cav prices are going up a bit now, Ads

Still trying to get to the bottom of my cars value but thought I would mention that I have insurance with RH Specialist Insurance in Brentwood on a Classic policy, fully comp at 3000 miles a year for £106
Which I thought was pretty good.
I could add the Morris to it with an agreed value of £9000 for an additional £93 which is a lot cheaper than my existing policy with Footman James.
