Ignition switch ripped apart

Post by McFall1984 »

About the buy a 1995 M Reg 1.7 td saloon

got broken into a while back an its problems go on an on

but my concern is the ignition switch

all the wires have been pulled and are now lying free, 6-7 wires i think, rest of the switch is gone

if i remember these all house inside a plug

what way do i got about getting a new switch or inserting these wires into a new unit?

My sympathies.
The cables go to a plug that clips into the actual switch. Your best bet would probably be to get a plug from a breakers; this shouls have the coloured cables attached so it's a case of splicing each wire in the loom to the same colour wire from the plug.
The actual switch seems to be a fairly standard Vauxhall part so any plug should be suitable.
Good luck.

There are in fact 2 different switches and connectors.

One is for early Cavalier and Astra.
The other is for very late Cavalier, Vectra-B and Corsa-B.

If you get the Vectra-B version, it can be modified to add position 1 (accessory) live.
