Re: What's this for
All cars have excess plugs for this, that and the other. If everything works fine and it's not plugged into anything, then leave it be

Re: What's this for
There should be a green wire from the barrel shaped connector that runs through the bulkhead and onto the speedo cluster.
There should also be a green wire from the coil.
The green wire from the barrel connector (X5) should connect to the coil wire.
The connectors don't always match, so you may need to make up your own connection.
I had this situation when converting from c18nz to c20ne.
I had to make up my own connections for a black ignition live feed from the barrel connector (x5).

Pzzzztt!
Nothing more scary than connecting unknown wires to things and waiting to see what fries!

Re: What's this for
Not really a mystery if it is located close to the coil...
Only green wire in that area is the rev counter wire, although the plug looks odd.
The only other green I have seen is usually on the rear bulkhead, and is often a feed for the bonnet light.
As said above - assuming that you now have the engine where you can get it running, see if the rev counter works as it should (indicates the approx engine speed).
If all your instruments work fine, and your engine runs okay, and there is no engine light on the dash - then as said above - do not worry about it. Just tie up the plug out of the way from harm.
