We have Just Dance 4 on the xbox, that's about as exciting as it gets in this house. I can't do shoot em ups, hands are far too big for that many buttons on a controller barely bigger than my thumb

they check the level when it's serviced don't they?"

YES!! Up until fudgery Gamespy wrist jockies stopped their online service to Operation Flashpoint, I was playing online multi-play daily, proper good sessions!!
I now have to resort to the classics, SWAT 3, F-22 Lightning 3, Tachyon Demo, and I wanna get the full game....
In my opinion PC games always were and always will be the most fun games around. Graphics are arguable, BUT the fun factor never dies in PC gaming. Good old keyboard and joystick is all you need to have fun

Thanks Dan but I'm more into the classic games myself. Although I must agree on power spec in terms of Flight Simulator or war simulation games... Certainly helps.

The graphics on the PC are pretty much always better. Even if it's just higher resolutions and more anti-aliasing.
I consider myself a PC enthusiast and build all my own machines.
Modern consoles are just too similar to one another to make them worth owning for me. Much easier just to game on the PC.
I gave up on consoles during the PS2 era. But anything before that I love and I'm a collector of classic video games on all platforms.
Have to say my favourite console of all time is the Nintendo 64.
Re: Who feels like having a random chat?
I bet I have the oldest console from when I was very young...
Anyone heard of a Philips G7000.
The biggest cartidge was about 4Kb.
Cartidges were bigger and uglier than the later Atari stuff.
Graphics quality was similar to the late 70's tennis games -lol

Last one i had was running 2 graphics cards in crossfire at 16x speed, i5 processor, 16 gig ram etc etc...
But had to get rid when the baby came to make room as it was massive 2 screens. Will be making a new one soon.

Re: Who feels like having a random chat?
Generally speaking, I can't be bothered with games. They sap so much time, although every now and again I get excited by a game that makes me realise how far things have come since the last time I plugged in and played.
I used to fire up the ZX Spectrum 48k when I was a kid, but I didn't even touch a PC until I was around 22-years-old. I guess the 'prime' time to get into gaming had passed (I was dedicated to my guitars anyway), but my flatmate at the time had a PS2 and would record himself playing games so that he could send his Gran Turismo lap times into whatever gaming magazine it was that he used to read. I remember walking in on him playing Grand Theft Auto III, and I was immediately captivated. When Rockstar released GTA Vice City, I went out and bought a PS2 specifically to play that game. It was/is amazing. I even bought the CD soundtrack box set. I haven't played all that many games, but it remains the best gaming experience I've ever had (unless you count Chase HQ on the Speccy!).
The PS2 stays with us to this today, acting as our DVD player! It was pretty much redundant when I completed Vice City.
Mrs Humbucker bought me a PS3 for Xmas a couple of years back, Blu-Ray business, all that jazz. We took it back to the shop; there was no way that I was ever gonna find the time to sit down and play an immersive video game, and it seemed like an expensive route just for Blu-Ray. I wasn't being ungrateful, just mindful of her wasting her coin!
I did buy a Pokemon edition N64 off of eBay a few years back, primarily for Mario Kart 64 and Goldeneye. Good fun at parties!
I'm with the rest of you - I build my own PCs. It's so cost efficient, and since the advent of Windows 7 64-bit, there are no longer the reliability/performance issues that Apple users used to take so much pride in pointing out (before their beloved brand became less of a solid workstation manufacturer and more of provider of fashion accessories). iFail indeed.
That said, I run three monitors (a 24-inch widescreen motherlover flanked by two 23-inch widescreens), which I guess would be ideal for gaming, particularly flight simulators etc.

I've lost count how many times I completed that game, along with other GTA's up to Vice City Stories, and I don't know anyone with a PS2 who hasn't completed Vice city!humbucker wrote:

Re: Who feels like having a random chat?
Never really got into gaming, tried to be interested a few times but it just doesn't float my boat and I lose interest quickly. I've always built my own pcs except for the first one, and the most recent as it was cheaper than I could build it by the time you factored in the os.

Have no interest in computers at all. Literally a load of old cheap bits.
I'm still using the old style monitor lol
As long as I can do all my invoices I'm not bothered in the slightest

Re: Who feels like having a random chat?
To be honest CRT monitors still have excellent picture quality and if you're ok with the size they can still be a viable option.btcctroy wrote:ave no interest in computers at all. Literally a load of old cheap bits.

Also you can make a great web browsing/media PC out of old bits. You don't need the latest and greatest to surf the net!
Vice city has always been my favourite GTA. Got to love the soundtrack!humbucker wrote:When Rockstar released GTA Vice City, I went out and bought a PS2 specifically to play that game. It was/is amazing. I even bought the CD soundtrack box set.
I haven't played GTA 5 yet though, it's out on the PC in the spring I think.
I know it. One of the few that I don't have though. They were called the Magnavox odyssey 2 in the USA, it was the successor to the first ever home video games console the Magnavox Odyssey from 1972.Robsey wrote:I bet I have the oldest console from when I was very young...

The Atari 2600 is actually older though, by one year and came out in 1977.

Re: Who feels like having a random chat?
Mate, I've been through tough times. We all have.. It's understandable. I'm at the stage now where I just don't give a censored word beginning with F. Let shit happen, it's life. I do get pissed off at stuff but not as much as before. Way I see it, is if you're gonna let everything get to you, then there ain't no point in living. Screw it, live each day at a time.
