Iraq is the retirement home for 80s Opels

The BBC's coverage of the current crisis in Iraq has revealed a little known fact - the country plays host to the world's highest number of surviving 80s Opels! I've lost track of the number of Carltons (Omega As), Mk2 Astra estates (Kadett E) and other vintage Vauxhall/Opels caught on camera when correspondents have been reporting on the conflict!

The Iraqi Army may have been obliterated by U.S. and NATO forces years ago but the Opels survived!!! If that's not bomb-proof, I don't know what is. I even have a saved video clip on youtube of a U.S. Humvee going through Baghdad, ramming every car in it's path as they cannot stop for security reasons. Many Vectra A's were kissed from behind and hardly a dent on them... Goes to show.
