What you may not know is that the Cadillac Catera was built in the Russelheim plant in Germany -
the same factory as the Omega-B, and later the Vectra-C.

Yes, of course it's not a proper Cadillac.

Am I a light sleeper or a heavy sleeper? Well that depends on how much I've had to drink...

And that it's regarded as one of the biggest failures of any American car manufacturer. "The Cadillac that deserved to die" is one catchy moniker that I've heard banded about, I'll be writing a bit about its history in the next project update (providing that I get all the bits installed in time!).Robsey wrote:What you may not know is that the Cadillac Catera was built in the Russelheim plant in Germany - the same factory as the Omega-B, and later the Vectra-C.

And that was the problem; it was missing two cylinders.Cavalier342 wrote:Yes, of course it's not a proper Cadillac.

Re: @ Humbucker regarding 2001 Catera
Facelift Catera rear end, complete with LED rear lights (these are the parts that I have acquired). Note that the inner lights are half the width of the facelift Omega equivalent, and that a separate boot panel runs along the width of the boot embedded in a recess (a bit like the Cavalier Turbo boot panel, but without lights or reflectors). This recess is absent from the Omega boot lid, and the panel is contoured to accommodate the Cadillac badges. I've had mine smoothed to perfection! Also, the red and white parts of the lens are the reverse order of the Omega lights.
Additionally, Cateras had integrated third brake lights in the upper part of the boot panel, and facelift cars included an 'afterthought' rear wing that appears to stuck half way along the boot lid!

Think I prefer the pre-facelift rear end. The facelift one has too small tail lights in my opinion...

Euro road trips - I approve!
Quite fancied a pre-facelift catera, just to bag it.

Ah hell yes, know those roads well, I'd be all up for this if I wasn't blowing all my annual leave on our trip to NZ in September!
Damn, I do love a good drive across Europe - haven't done the 'ring as it was shut last time I was passing. 2016...I suppose?! LOL
