Given your recent history I'd start by making sure it runs ;-)

the heater went cold last Thursday........
they check the level when it's serviced don't they?"

Dont take your so called "Mechanic" friend to look at it.

I would say check the wiring but that is clearly not your strong point. They are not worth a great deal these days you can pick up a corsa xe for about 650 on ebay so whats the car? Link? What are you swapping for?

swopping for my tdi bora im a bit unsure as ive allways wanted an xe corsa but its running a f16 gearbox I though any smaller than f20 and it will just fcuk up the gearbox ? there isn't a link and the xe corsa has a coscast head too solid shell as ive check'd for rust in all common places I like it cos its a little sleeper I reckon I would get better mpg in it as its pulling a lighter car so less effort for engine to work as I do 13 miles to work and back im not getting what I though in tdi bora I do have a spare f20 gearbox.

The Bora will be better on fuel all day long. Unless there is something wrong with it

Vw tdi engines are capable of huge mileages from a gallon of fuel, far more than an xe, even pulling a go cart. You need to drive them in a way that takes advantage of it though, flooring it will drink it.

Yes use the torque of the engine not the revs.
