How to find out the build date of your cav?

Post by Lowrider Dave »

Anyone know of a way to determine where and when a car was built?

Seem to recall that the first part of the chassis number was the build location wol on cavs, vsx on some other models. Vaguely recall russelsheim for cavs? I don't recall any date marking though, other than the model year.

They have dates on some parts such as the door cards.

Not sure if it's the actual manufacture date or just when that part was made.

I remember seeing rows and rows of Land Rover Discos being stored out in the open up at Brooklands airfield about 15 years ago....and somewhere else they used to store Transits in a similar fashion...registration dates can be misleading...
