When were airbags introduced
I'm trying to find out when exactly airbags were introduced as standard.
I was of the understanding that all facelift caves had them, but now it seems I was wrong and early K reg Cavs didn't have them.
I going to start a list of Cavs by their date of registration and see if we can narrow down the exact date when airbags were introduced.
K167 UFJ 1.8 LS - 19 02 1993 - no airbag
James' 1.6 LS - 24 06 1993 - with airbag

Re: When were airbags introduced
They were actually Introduced in Late 93' - you'll probably find that there the odd late registered cav without the airbag though.
Really started coming into them in 94 onwards.

Re: When were airbags introduced
Model years started in between the August registration change and the the new date year, and it would have been on certain models initially too. I think, from memory it was mainly introduced 93 model year, which was being built from around Oct 92 ish

Re: When were airbags introduced
My K reg never had an airbag, both my November 93 L reg cavs had airbags James.
Like Paul said, probably certain models first then down to the lower ranges after a year or so.

Re: When were airbags introduced
Ye that's what I said on that Oddball GLS thread. Also I believe the passenger airbags were optional from 93 onwards, and standard in the very later cars. As I robbed a glove box not long ago from a 1.8 LS from the breakers, it was N reg I believe, and that had a passenger airbag.

You'll struggle to figure it out from registered dates, you need to work on build dates.
