So did you just answer your own question then? :scratch

Virgin media is bollocks, we never get decent speed, and nor does my mate who's on their highest speed apparently yet he's not getting half of what he should be...

Not sure it's likely to be a great benefit to me, everything I do works fine at 8meg dsl

Ouch. And I thought mine was bad.

About 6.5 Mb/s here not bad I suppose, considering I live in a medieval English village.

As of May 2013 the UK average is 14.7 Mb/s.

Im with Virgin - never had any problems with them. Im on a 60mb connection... here's what I was getting this morning:

and it is properly unlimited - not like some of these companies that say theyre unlimited, but then have a "fair useage" policy, which means that basically you have a limit and if you go over that your speeds are severely restricted.

Amazing how many folks confuse Mb/s with mB/s still

Yep. manufacturers and communications companies rely on it to a certain extent.

Sounds much better to say 8Mb/s than 1MB/s but they are the same speed.

Well mine averages 8 MB/s or 65 Mb/s.
Obviously broadband companies will advertise there product using Mb/s because no one understands the difference and assumes the higher number is better. It should be advertised with both values so people arn't confused
