Post by ashs_cav »

Well, stupid me driving kike an idiot in a rush.

Coming down the bypass, overtook a loada cars on a break from work, Saw the camera van, think I was doin 80-90 slammed on, past the van at 40 :/

I had no front number plate on, but obv ut would have seen me but I past at 40 so it wuda got my rear plate.

3 points and a fine I realy dont need

Will see the outcome when I get a letter.

Was praying it was only a Tax/insurance scanner but I doubt it, its me lol.

Before anyone says it my own fault , ino it is, but for you drivers when anyone gets points its a heart aching thing haha.

Maybe coz I have no other driving offenses il get a speed awarness :( doubt it tho coz the roads a 60

Anyone ever got away with anythig like this? Discuss, I feel very ill haha

O yeah - speeding, great subject! apparently it's a bad thing!

3 or 6 points possibly? possible failure to display the plate too?.
why on earth have you no number plate?

totally depends on what speed you were actually nabbed at if and when you get a ticket.
few mph the posted limit plus the 10%, possible SAC,
lots over it, no chance but the points.

The courses - they like to group together the 35 and 36 in a 30 limit guys, to embarrass them and show them the bloodied pictures of the bent and twisted metal.

the NIP fine has just gone up too, iirc.

I am not a lawyer though, so seek advice if you think you need it.

be prepared for a hike in insurance costs possibly.

I looked at my fairly recent points in a kinda "fair cop govner" kinda deal. basically it could have a lot worse than it was and an awful lot earlier than the 25 years and about 500,000 miles of driving that has passed behind me.
It has slowed me down a tad to the point that sometimes I really notice much more all the twats heaving along around me in a rush to die and is one of the reasons i commute in the 1.6 auto, right up to the limits where possible of course, although 3 of my recent points were from when I was in that car ironically, possibly the most sedate car I have had for many years. it's more of a steady eddie than the rocketship status of my other cars. takes some of the risk out of it all. it's less tempting.

7 years ago, driving a hired car on a single carriageway A road on a Sunday morning, I didn't see the camera van until I passed it doing a ton. It was a fully marked police van and they put all the woo woos on as I looked in the mirror. I thought I was sure to get a follow up but it never happened. You might be lucky like I was.

i think cus you had no plate on the front he wont have any way of tracing you i dont think they use the rear if its the same sort of van that 'arrive alive' and 'go safe' use round here.

still all you can do is wait and see i know what its like not knowing though this happened to me twice, first did speed awareness course second time wasnt offered as it was within 2 years of the previous.

i guarantee you will never speed down that stretch of road again!

Plate or No plate they will still get you, it has been known that police use the old / home done reg etchings off the glass and besides from the front you have a tax disk dont you?

I got a letter for doing 34 in a 30 a month or so back, filled it out and sent back and heard nothing since so who knows....

Also passed one of those vans at 90mph on the A27 and never got a fine so you never know.
Free Parking is a bonus, leaving my Cav in a carbon dust filled carpark is not.....

There was a thing on the local radio about what fines the police give now.
When I was done for 97 in a 70 (I'm sure I was doing more but would they rather £££ then ban me?) I became a club member with 3 points. Oh and my insurance went up by £20

The police officer was saying that 12mph over the limit is a course or points if you've done the course before. But rather then every person getting the course some will get a warning letter.

Oh another naught thing ive seen the police do... On the M40 as i was going southbound i saw a white van with orange lights on the top.

I drop the car down a gear, foot to the floor and see the needle bounce off the limiter... I turn off the junction and over the bridge that said van is on and.... Turns out to be a camara van with marking on the front only :no

Luckily for me i was only doing 50 :D

May have changed, but an old mate was quite happy with his month ban because it cleared his points tally and allowed him to start collecting again, lol

From watching Motorway Cops, Traffic Cops, Highway Blues, and other such programs, I'd guess at 6 points and 3 months driving ban. Also you'd have a choice of a speed awareness course. Won't help your insurance though unfortunately. Even though I will agree that in some cases, overtaking someone while flooring it in 2nd or 3rd is acceptable, they don't see it that way.

Well I would prefer the ban, as said with the no points, but if 3 points is giving is obviously better than 6

You will prob get a ban... my other half was doing 93 in a 70 but recorded at 81 and got 3 points and a hench fine...
Copper said if she had been recorded at 93 he would of had her car and she would of lost her license...

You will be very very lucky if you dont have to retake your test!!!

When it comes to vans... they have you before you know they are there!!!
And you dont need a front plate... They can read the rear after you have passed...
