I've decided I would really like a sex change, preferably from 'none' to 'absolutely shitloads'

finally got round to finishing my xe cover
pretty cool paint tbh but you need a tidy heat gun to get the effect
leaving it to dry on its own is a no no works better if you help it with heat , I only know this from google
some people struggle using it with out the help of heat
just waiting on custom plug cover and chrome bolts

Nice one Troy, I am under the impression that ali welding is quite a lot harder than steel.

the heater went cold last Thursday........
they check the level when it's serviced don't they?"

The tig torch is the hardest bit. It's a bit like the old gas welding. Ali isn't like steel to weld at all, It melts into a weld pool but doesn't run like steel. It's hard to explain.planetc wrote:Nice one Troy, I am under the impression that ali welding is quite a lot harder than steel.
I'm ok but definitely not a proffessional I have much to learn

Re: What have you made/welded/fabricated/built recently?
Ive had a play with troys ali welder and its nowhere near as easy as mig welding. Allot of hand coordination is needed to get the movements just right.

been fabricating the rear arch on my mates 1991 skoda rapid. its been a few years since any sort of thin sheet welding but i'm quite impressed with myself just need to sort the floor, other arch, doors and any other holes we find/make i'll try getting some pics up see what you guys think of my amateur welding/fabricating skills
