Hello & Welcome.
Re: new member
Thanks everyone one for a warm welcome, going to start having a better look for a sri/gsi anyone have any suggestions. Other than ebay? Have seen a sri 2.0 16v ecotec engine does anybody have an opinions on that engine compared to the redtop.
Re: new member
welcome to the site. The ecotec is rubbish. Be patient and wait for a sri/gsi to turn up

Ouch! that hurtbtcctroy wrote:welcome to the site. The ecotec is rubbish. Be patient and wait for a sri/gsi to turn up

I drove my eco sri for ten years & liked it, not very tuneable but easy to work on.
the eco cdx I've got now is ok except for the wide ratio gearbox, I miss the acceleration of the cr box in the sri but that's next years project.
Depends if you want tuneability or mpg. The eco sri's still pretty nippy

Re: new member
It's backwards step from the redtop in my opinion. Redtop or 8v Sri for me

there are pros and cons with any of the engines available, just many more pros with an XE!
if you can't find an ace sri XE Cav, build one like I did. CD/cdx/Diplomat base car, slide in an XE, get it how you want it, sorted.
welcome to the fold by the way!
Re: new member
Yeah going to have a look around I kind of feel more inclined to wait for an unforgettable molested one with a bit of history, but from what I can see that may prove difficult, so may try and build one, what are the things to look for when buying.
Re: new member
That should say un molested.!!!! Stupid predictive text
