Re: Front wing removal

I had a look at a Cavalier tonight in the unit.

There are two acme screw holes in the lower from edge of the wing, where it hides behind the bumper.

Everything else should be as I described above.

Re: My VERY RUSTY VW T25 Camper Van Project

Last week, I took my MAPP gas home to free up the manifold studs on the engine in my back yard. I seem to think it has been there since May of 2012... so nigh on twelve years ago. It has been drained of coolant in all that time, so hopefully internal corrosion is not too bad. Anyway, of the eight st...

Re: Front wing removal

The first job is to remove the front bumper. The wings themselves are bolted in place. About 7 Acme screws along the top edge (under the bonnet. One at the base of the A pillar, And probably a couple at the front below the indicators. --------- Then you have about 8 or so plastic expanding rivets th...

Ah okay,
I suppose something must have changed... health, family, or finances, to cause him to abandon the planned project.

The red-tops on their own will command a fair price.
They are still a popular retro-fit amongst the Nova / Corsa groups (PNG etc...)

Re: My Cav Motorsport

I am tempted to say "what a shame..".

The last two posts both infer that the seller was only interested in the car as an investment.
Not from an enthusiast perspective.

Re: Rustival 2024 MARCH 9th

Same here, I packed in FaceAche a long time ago. I just ended up being pestered by images of semi-clad girls, or girls from eastern Europe looking for a loving partner. :ass Nice, but err no!. :no --------------- I can't cope with the one I've got (the missus), so I sure as hell ain't looking for mo...

Re: Rustival 2024 MARCH 9th

Excellent.
Did you only look at the Vauxhalls?

I like a lot of the old 80s and 90s cars.
It is just nice to see cars from my younger days.
Whether it is a TR7, a Super-Mirafiori or even a Morris Marina.
They are more interesting due to their personality and rarety.

Re: Matts CDX - Work In Progress.

I am assuming that the corrosion was in the upper strut mount locations. If so, either the mounting hole could have eroded, or the surrounding metal could be cracked or damaged. If so, there is small potential for the strut top mounting to move around a bit, causing the vehicle to feel a bit wolly. ...

Re: Why are interviewers so rude?

Well Gary, I think it was a reply worth waiting for... I couldn't have said it better. Majority of the applicants coming through are also individuals looking to move to the UK, but without any relevant experience (probably 1st, or 2nd Line and in need of significant training). Yep, I have heard of a...

Re: Why are interviewers so rude?

16 year olds are cheaper to hire and fire. The minimum wage has three bandings based on age, so if they just want a general lacky, then a cheap and cheerful 16 year old would do. sad but true - it is the cold reality of running a business at minimum cost. it is all about the bottom line. £5.28 for 1...

Re: Matts CDX - Work In Progress.

Unfortunately, Cavaliers do not like being stood for long periods. They simply rot where they stand, especially during cold, damp winter months. They need the air-flow of a good commuter run, or a long distance jaunt to blow away any moisture, and the warmth of the engine and cabin heater to do the ...

I have my fingers and toes crossed for her. It makes walking look a bit odd and I have only fell over twice. ;) I didn't think there would have been 80 jobs available for her to apply to. Re: Blink And You Miss It - 15 Years.

To be honest, my house, garden, van, the Vectra and Cavalier all need a lot of TLC, so plenty of stuff to snaffle up what wages I earn. Just like me, everything is looking a bit ramshackle... well a lot really. A lottery win sure would help - lol My hope for my own forum involvement is to reintroduc...

Re: My VERY RUSTY VW T25 Camper Van Project

Same here, I have had just one right lower A pillar pressing, but as many as four for the left. One of those was a black coated panel. I have bought one from every well known supplier in the hope that one would be okay. Sadly not. I reiterate, not the suppliers' fault, but the manufacturers. And the...

You have been quite active behind the scenes Gary. Hopefully as we start heading into spring, things will pick up again. Re: My VERY RUSTY VW T25 Camper Van Project

Stupid question here, but... Are there any Daewoo Nexia used panels out there? Essentially, a Nexia (or Le Mans as it is in some countries) was a mk2 Astra. I recall seeing a Nexia in Ellesmere Port in 2015-ish, with the astra badging on it. Scrub that, I just noticed that the profile around the ind...

Re: Why are interviewers so rude?

I think all "zero-hour" contracts should be banned. My colleague at work lives alone with a mortgage, and was previously a care agency worker on zero-hours. She reported a similar line of despair at the erratic hours and very poor wages. I can only hope that your wife gets a lucky break. A...

I don't know... but these pattern panels are the worst I have ever seen. A huge 16 to 19mm (5/8" to 3/4") out at the bottom. https://i.postimg.cc/RVp6G2ZQ/20210630-020950.jpg Only Klokkerholme in Denmark make them. So even the best UK suppliers, Heritage and Brickwerks have to sell them as...

Re: My VERY RUSTY VW T25 Camper Van Project

I managed to get a couple of panel cuts for the bottom A pillar corners. I was totally fed up of badly fitting pattern panels. The cuts don't look fantastic, but I hope a bit of shot blasting and descaling the paint might help. Before - as they arrived. https://i.postimg.cc/bN5tnQYz/001-37.jpg https...
