Putting Full CAN Infotainment in a Cavalier

The hot / cold slider works...lovely long cable The two smaller sliders aren't connected yet, but I'm sure that I could make up something to do this...modified cycle brake / gear cables perhaps. However I can change fan speed, turn on / off rear screen demister and said above I can vary the heat of ...

You would need to be careful though, as this is a public facing forum...scrotes have access to this site too remember!!! I've had a mk2 cav stolen, another mk2 vandalised until it was only fit for scrap...fuel lines cut , my motorcycle stolen and dumped (thankfully no real damage) and lastly someone...

luck seems to be still going my way!!! I've undone the cable ties that hold the loom for the heater panel and hazard light switch to the right side of the facia, and guess what?? Well the loom was easily manipulated to allow the heater panel and demister switch to be dropped into the lower panel pos...

Re: What unique parts does your cav have fitted to it?

My Cav 1994 1.8LSi is fitted with generally standard upgrades, but my current clain to fame is the first one with a Signum Elegance CD70 Navi and GID screen. Other parts are: - Cav GSI fuel computer, Illuminated grab handles, Illuminated sun visor, Front Fogs Parcel-shelf with headrests Astra GTE mk...

I still haven't fitted the heater section yet...not able to spend much time or money on the car yet, however I use it everyday for work!! Luckily the lever for hot/cold is to the left side of the clutch pedal and just within reach...so that deals with the change in weather. The fan switch is set to ...

Had another go,as the rejigged version didn't show the boxes that represented each connector section.

Think this should be better.

Re: Discussion re Trip Computers

I suppose the most accurate way to verify a ball-park figure for your sixth gear, would be to compare the ratios given for the old 5th gear and new boxes sixth gear and calculate the difference. Being a V6, I would anticipate about 35 to 40 mpg in a 5 speed and 40 to 45 for a 6 speed... Apologies if...

Don't know about the Tigra!!! If the centre console / facia is roughly the same shape / size as the Cav one, then it could be a goer, but as I said above this is not for the faint hearted....unless you have a spare facia to revert back to standard. That would help if it just doesn't look right, or i...

Checked the instructions for the multiplug...
The upper cover pivots up away from the bottom half.
The diagram shows the view of the male spade connectors as they look inside the bottom half.

Re: front fogs...not got & want 2 fit

I could have sworn that if you have the link wire across the front of the relay in the top corner of the fuse box ( grey wire I think), then you wont need a relay. Mine has worked fine for the last three or so years since I did the install without the extra relay. As said above you will need to put ...

Putting Full CAN Infotainment in a Cavalier

Continueing on, I have done a trial fit in my car today... Not for the faint hearted, had to hack a few sections out of my dash to allow the rather tall screen trim to fit under the centre air vents, and also remove the centre cross spar that holds the plastic shell that locates the radio cage. As a...

Don't know if it is of any interest to other Cav / Calibra owners, but I am mid-way through installing a CD70 Navi Head-Unit and Graphic screen from a 2005 Signum Elegance into my Cavalier. I know it sounds odd, and it isn't perfect...no Board Computer functions and no Temp gauge, however I have a G...

Re: engine light stays on

Have you tried the paperclip test...if it has happened within the last twenty or so engine starts, then it should be possible to get a flash code (short pins a and b to get the engine light to flash the fault codes - with the ignition on) Check out the other threads to get the exact method and the r...

Re: Fuel gauge not working

As far as my memory serves it should be similar to my car... Mine is a 1.8 CFi with the pump in the top of the tank (under rear seat)... The sender for this is at the rear of the tank on my car with an oval plug on it. Firstly check your connector and wires for corrosion or snapped conductors... but...

Re: Front Foglight Relay

This thread is slightly old now, but there is no relay required here... You should just have a grey and yellow link wire (I think) where the relay would sit. This is how mine is and it works fine. With regard to the fuse...this is a standard blade fuse..20 amp (yellow one)should be enough! If it sti...

Re: front fogs...not got & want 2 fit

If I remember correctly, there is a main power feed missing that goes from the big multiplug connector in the passenger side kick panel to the foglight front end loom. The earth return etc should be there though. I have a 1994 Cavalier LS and that had the wire missing...I would assume that yours is ...

Okay...I've checked the ABS ZERO website, and it tells me that the X20XEV is the most common program...check the bottom last three digits on your vin plate...on the paint and trim line the last three digits may / should match the program code...but not always. As yours is the LSi, then I would think...

There are several threads about the board computer on this site, Migweb, Cavaliercrazy and VxON... Re: My old car- please help

I have checked the DVLA site for you... The car was indeed only taxed until Nov 2004. It is not declared as SORN, which it would legally have to be if it was taken off the road (since 1995 I think). It MUST be assumed that the vehicle has therefore been scrapped..probably in 2004 at the time of &quo...
