Re: Carlton C20ne

They are the same engine and yes if you strip the carlton engine mounts etc off and fit FWD parts then it will go into a cavalier. There will be a spigot bearing in the end of the crank to remove and the Injection loom is a different length. I've done this the other way around and taken a C20NE fro...

Carlton C20ne

Hey guys,

Feel kinda silly asking but want to be sure!

I have found a low mileage late plate Carlton with the C20ne in it but obviously the carlton mounts in line rather than the transverse in the cavalier

With the cav mounts could it be turned and fitted easily or is this a no go area.

Re: Mikes 2.0 Gls

Rechecked paperclip test with engine running and no fault codes bar 12 diagnostic start and end.

Still can't find any leaks!

As I'm at work until mid afternoon I have removed battery + terminal to see if it's a ecu issue and let it reset itself

Re: Mikes 2.0 Gls

Coolant temp sensor already done and made things worse, new lambda going on mid week and if that doesn't improve things it'll get scrapped.

Even with the boot system I still got 350 from a full tank.

Sick of spending out on it tbh, owes me too much money.

All You Need To Know About Sensors......

Pinched from Steve on Migweb, sure he'll be cool sharing info though.. All you need to know about sensors COOLANT SENSOR . Usually located on the cylinder head or intake manifold, this sensor is used to monitor the temperature of the engine’s coolant. Its resistance changes in proportion to coolant ...

Re: Mikes 2.0 Gls

Some details on Crank shaft sensor

http://www.topbuzz.co.uk/info/crankshaf ... sensor.htm

Does state it should illuminate the Ecu light on the dash which did happen before but goes off as car starts each time so I dunno, at £15 though its worth a try I guess.

Re: Mikes 2.0 Gls

I think the crank sensor is one of those things that when it goes wrong, the engine doesn't run. Never heard of one to cause fueling issues, but I have been known to be wrong! Did a google search and apparently its one of the main sensors needed to regulate the Ecu and injection system, wish I had ...

Re: Mikes 2.0 Gls

Just ordered from VCP

90451441N Vauxhall crank speed sensor
9152245N Outside temp sensor

All for £23.00 which I thought was reasonable, just hopes it helps to sort the issues out :?

Re: Mikes 2.0 Gls

Ok just remembered to do Paperclip test, bit late for some parts but got the following after the diagnostic flashes ***-* (31) Looking this up on topbuzz it relates to NO rpm signal from Crankshaft Position Sensor I believe, could this be the cause of the huge over-fuelling issues?? Any further help...

Re: Mikes 2.0 Gls

135 miles to near half a tank? Dude, at full whack, even the V6 would struggle to beat that.. You must either have a leak somewhere or the gauge is drunk... Guage is ok mate, now that as when I filled it last time it took what I expected about 57 litres as was near empty, no sign of a leak anywhere...

There really ain't much else to check then. Hopefully the replacement lambda will cure it. Yup, cure or kill basically..... Tbh at 135,00 with 40k of those with my disability of a lead right foot it probably needs some internal works, still pulls well however and haven't had the timing checked yet ...

Re: Mikes 2.0 Gls

Which sensor did you replace? Did you check to see if your plugs are fouled from over-fueling? Both gauge one and the CTS on the rear of the thermostat housing, cleaned AFM and filters checked also. Not removing the plugs until I can get down to Chichester due to problems with it previously the plu...

Still no further joy in getting the mpg back to normality so over the weekend I changed the CTS (coolant temp sensor) and took the car for a good run, unfortunately this doesn't seem to have helped and infact it has chewed from completely full to 3/4 tank in just 75 miles  where as I am used to...

Re: Mikes 2.0 Gls

AFM? Air Flow meter? If that is faulty, I'm sure it would throw up a code, at the very least clean it with special cleaner spray, I have a can here, they're cheap enough to buy and handy to keep, I'd do the temperature sender unit first and eliminate that. Just picked it up but tooooo bloody cold a...

That does look a bit crusty, was it definitely that one that the technician mentioned? What about the one on the back of the thermostat housing? The one in the photo is only for the gauge, I think the other one with the 2-pin plug actually talks to the ECU. Yep only found this out yesterday lunchti...

Nasty ain't they, mine was the same even after heat and lots of Plus gas to try and loosen things up..
