used be out of ten, then 20, now I believe it is scored out of 50. Group 20 sounds about right.

Re: Rad Fans
has your car got the extra fan mounting shroud bit in front of the rad, off to the drivers side a bit? if so you could run a wide Air-con style rad if you haven't got that one already, with the other auxiliary fan as well as the std alloy framed one, that gives you a cheap but big rad and fans that ...

it's a little square 9 way one IIRC. We found the mating half at a scrappy and wired mine in properly. Can't remember what it was off of though. Sure there was probably a 40£ kit one could purchase at the time, but I never had that. Found you 2 rads and 3 condensers today, and 5 aircon pumps. should ...

My original NE had a superb fault or 3....but not usual common or garden stuff like the usual problems that affect anything - used to take ages to drain the hot oil out of it.... used to idle strange, too high basically. well weird. never sussed it til the end Thing pulled like the proverbial though...

Re: fitting 308mm discs.
the 5 stud front discs are the same internal 70mm iirc bore as that bit sits on a little step on the hub... it is the disc "bell" part that is different, the big recess bit. early 284 ones are bigger in shape so go over later hubs and later discs, like the 288 and 308 would need the hubs t...

Re: fitting 308mm discs.
as the man says, if your have already got late calibra 5 stud hubs that the 288's fit over, just bolt on the carriers and discs.
if you have actually got the larger diameter early 5 stud hubs off of a cav turbo or a car with 284mm brakes, your new ones won't fit over the hubs.

Taking both the steering arms off with the track rod ends still on them makes it a piece of p1ss to sort them nicely, coz there's far less arsing about in the dark on the floor bruising yur knuckles.. something like - take off inner locking clips and bolts with the oval link widgit and spacers, IIRC...

Thanks for the welcome all :) Im going to do an oil change on the box as the old fluid is a bit worn out and oddly enough it only seems to go into limp mode after a period of idling or after being stuck in traffic, i will look at the selector box as well. One of the pipes to the heater is hot while...

Welcome and that's a great board name. made me chuckle. Love my auto and good mpgs too, just don't use it as much as I should. This is turning out to be possibly the second or maybe the third best car I have ever owned, and have had 26 (I recently worked out!) - To give it a small sprucing up, I had the wheels done, had it on the ex Cavvy white ST rims for a week so I could get to work if I wanted to use it, it looked ok on...

It's backwards step from the redtop in my opinion. Redtop or 8v Sri for me never have truer words been spoken! there are pros and cons with any of the engines available, just many more pros with an XE! if you can't find an ace sri XE Cav, build one like I did. I have had a whole week free of it all as I did rather over do it last weekend on holiday, but did fancy a swift one earlier, so am supping a cheeky training lager and lime as that's all I seem to have in the gaff and CBA to go out in the rain to the Co-op. Find that quite refreshing and non headach...
