All that code stuff is voodoo to me.
I can barely understand written English, never mind computer code.
As for non-OEM parts. Sadly it is too common for non-original parts to wear or fail prematurely.
Or they simply do not fit properly.

If the jacking-point panel does turn out to be a genuine GM part, I would be tempted to get the left one too.
Depending upon the quality of my Klokkerholm part in comparison.
I will have a quick look-see and compare when the part arrives.

Penciled it in, usually a good event! Alan Weather permitting. The Saturday last year was almost a total wash-out. I did get photos, but only stayed an hour or so. And failed to meet any of the regulars. Anyway we have just under three months for the Sun to try to show it's face. Fingers crossed.

Re: 1994 Cavalier LSi C20NE (was C18NZ) Work-horse
I find it crazy how quick mainland European post is compared to our UK service. I ordered the right side jacking point pressing from Holland last thing Thursday night (last night). I got an email tonight to say that it was on its way, and will be delivered to me on Wednesday. That is crazy... but I ...

Re: My VERY RUSTY VW T25 Camper Van Project
I have miles of sleeving, but being earth wires, it should not be an issue. I am usually quite pedantic with the +12v wires for insulation anyway. Double sleeving on the higher current carrying wires. 26/4/24 @ 21:00 UPDATE - Polybushes received already. I hope to pick up the rest of the bits on Mon...

Re: VBOA 2024 - JULY 26th-28th 2024
I am hopeful that my Cav will be back to rude health and ready to attend this year. For the first time since 2019. A few days short of it's 30th birthday (registration day). Hopefully see a few of you there. Not sure which day, but Saturday usually means more chance of being there long enough to see...

Re: The Wife's Vectra-C - The other battle wagon
With the wife's car, it is also the load area that matters. All modern cars come with no boot space. Something vital for putting her wheelchair into. It just goes into the Cavalier, https://i.postimg.cc/DwRhw02k/20180714-095420.jpg but there is bags more room in the Vectra. Minimal corrosion, good c...

Re: My VERY RUSTY VW T25 Camper Van Project
I have a clinch-nut (or riv-nut) tool and inserts on their way. Plus a pack of fifty 5.2mm ring connectors (crimps). They are all due approx. Sat 27th April 8-) Hmm - dash out job, it will be... again - lol  Images from Silverbullet's thread on the Club8090 forum. And the source of my plan of a...

Re: 1994 Cavalier LSi C20NE (was C18NZ) Work-horse
Tonight I ordered what could potentially be the last repair panel for the Cavalier. Since the closure of the Carz2 webshop, I have been unable to get a right front reinforcer / jacking point from Klokkerholm. A fellow-member had enquired previously and mentioned a site in Holland. I haven't heard ba...

Re: My VERY RUSTY VW T25 Camper Van Project
Now that I have my car back, I was reminded by Troy that there was a unit.... I had got out of the habit of going  So tonight - I finished painting the bottom wishbone (if you can call it that), and then assembled the bottom eyelet and radius rod to it. The blue looks correct in this photo. ht...

Yep - typically £50+ increase per car compared to last years prices.

Re: The Wife's Vectra-C - The other battle wagon
I hope the car will be happy for a while. It usually costs about £400 a year. But this year, £2010 for parts and labour, and £600 for car hire. I have a sneaking suspiscion that the exhaust is next. Just rear mounts and rubbers, I think. On the up-side... It is the Cavalier's turn next. :thumb I hav...

Re: The Wife's Vectra-C - The other battle wagon
Cheers Gary,
The Vectra is home now.
A big sense of relief to have it back.
Ours is far from cosmetically and mechanically good.
It looks lived-in, and has been worked hard.
I suppose the MOT pass just means that it meets the minimum safety standards.
And then only until the car left the forecourt.

Re: The Wife's Vectra-C - The other battle wagon
Vectra now has a new 12 month ticket - woohoo. I probably could have bought a very good example, for the amount that I have spent on it since the beginning of December... A big chunk was two lots of van hire. But the biggest cost was the Clutch, dual mass and timing belt in December. Hey ho... it is...

Other than that video clip, I have never watched him on TV. He just never appealed to me. Most TV comedians generally don't float my boat. I did see adverts for the pub landlord series, and never gave them a second thought. I also saw adverts for "why does everyone hate the British". Hmm, ...

Hi Andy, Wheelchair batteries have similar capacities to car batteries, but they are more like deep discharge leisure batteries. I would still use the old-fashioned gel-cell / dri-fit batteries rather than the newer AGM batteries. AGMs require a lot more continual charging and don't like to be sat w...

Re: The Wife's Vectra-C - The other battle wagon
It is obsolescence that will cause the Vectra's demise in years to come. The last two times the car was forced off the road for more than a few days, I had struggled to find discontinued parts. Fuel line last time. Trailing arms and mounts this time. They do not suffer from bodywork corrosion as suc...

I would still get it tested for my own peace of mind.
Only 10 1/2 years for the Cavalier,
And the 'camper' van is exempt already from MOT, VED and CAZ / ULEZ.
But it isn't anywhere near road worthy... nor will it be for quite a while yet.

Re: Volvo C70 2.0Diesel Convertible,auto
Even multiple vehicles shouldn't cost that.
I moan at £200 a year with the AA, but that covers any vehicle that me or the wife are in.
Not the cars themself.
RAC ramp there prices up if you call them out more than once or twice a year.

Green flag only get you home, they do not normally fix cars by the road side unless it is an easy fix. There aren't many other options... RAC - I was with them in the 90s. They were quite prompt, but didn't always diagnose my issue properly. One chap told me that my Maestro 1275 A+ engine was worn, ...

Re: The Wife's Vectra-C - The other battle wagon
Looking back at the Vectra, production ceased in October 2008... so 16 years ago. Manufacturers are only obliged to supply parts for five years after production ends. Having a blue light card saved me about 10%, but yes a ropey old banger would be cheaper than the rental and deposit. Hey ho - heres ...

The saga continues... The trailing arms and carriers from Lithuania have been fitted without a hitch. Apparently no bolts sheared. Plan is to get some new tyres tomorrow, Ready for drop links and re-test on Monday. After a quick clean, the brake pipe was found to be okay and didn't need replacing. S...
