Re: What could this be ?

i take it this is a 18SV carbed auto yes? if so, i dare say it's like my 16sv auto and has not got the standard idle speed adjuster like a manual has, near the throttle cable. the siemens EZ plus ignition controller handles lots of the ignition/advance/throttle jacking etc functions and the std idle...

Re: My Diplomat "A 20 CAV", with added goodness

Gosh! so long between updates! Good old Dippy XE passed it's 10th MOT today during my ownership. couple of advises for once (as a new MOT ticket guy - where I go, did the test, he's far too keen! Car was older than him mind!) nothing major though, now on 205000, no welding yet. Advise both front tyr...

Re: Mike and James' 2.0 8v Diplomat

your memory is so poor Andrei! i brought my carrier bag full to a meet and you had one off of me and iirc bought me a beer.. the thermal fuses (187 deg C iirc) are freely available making the resistor pack fairly fixable as long as the resistance winding is sound, as long as you don't try and solder...

Re: Mike and James' 2.0 8v Diplomat

heater fan motors - it's always the low speed winding on the resistor that goes! If you haven't been in there yet, take the rubber seal and the scuttle panel off, unclip the cover over the motor, remove the 2 screws holding the motor down, disconnect the 2 supply wires, resistor and lift the motor o...

Re: Digi dash

Interesting you should mention the gauge calibration Robsey, I too have a similar thing with my Euro digidash, displays in gallons, but on a brimmed fill it shows 14 gallons initially on the forecourt, soon dropping to 13. I take that to mean 13 whole gallons left (as it does go down to 1 eventually...

Re: x20xev ecotec EML light

if you get 12 3 times, then again 3 times, when it's running, IIRC thats fine. problem is you may be getting a momentary fault that does not give a permanent EML. if the O2 sensor is good, and nothing else silly is going on, then you may be looking at the fairly prevalent ecowrec stuff like - cam se...

There are rpm signal converters available, that simply increase or reduce the pulses per rpm by some weird electronic multiplication thingy. I know Dom at Picbitz has been doing these for years, and is still working on his design. And I have seen mention on various VW camper forums about signal con...
