Good news 1; the battery survived the night and the car fired this morning and throughout the day... the new battery (read second hand tatty thing from the mother-in-law-to-be's old golf) is performing very well and appears happy with th...

Re: New MOT changes for 2012

I assume if you did remap the vehicle and could demonstrate correct insurance (i.e it's been declared...) they couldn't fail you for illegal ecu modification.

Re: Squig's CDX v6; WIP

That is the last resort... I'd rather run a 120A one (obviously) but after todays pantomime I very well may just jump straight to that solution and go from there. Oh and I'm 100% sure the battery is discharging horribly fast.

Re: Squig's CDX v6; WIP

Indeed it is fella

She also had some new all weather tyres for the standard alloys on the front, next is to sort the charging issue. I'd tested the alternator and it seems to be charging incorrectly, so I'll be looking for a 3 litre v6 alternator next, or solutions :D

Re: last car of 2011 poss for long while

Firstly this is fast becoming much more of a gallery thread and as such belongs there so * MOVED *... secondly have you joined the vectra forum VVCO yet? Thirdly just buy that cav turbo, the longer you spend dicking about with swaps the less likely you are to get your fabled turbo as they are quickl...

Re: Squig's CDX v6; WIP

Turns out it was simple... and weird.

The clutch cable has seized inside the sheath... found it disconnecting it from the box. So I'll replace the bugger and then I can fit the other new tyre, win.

Re: Squig's CDX v6; WIP

The cav's reign over the roads began today at 12:30 and ended 12:35 today... I think I have an almost seized release bearing that would not free off. So it would appear I have to remove my gearbox this week... in the persistent slush, I'd prefer to do it in snow than slush but hey ho. I'm rambling s...
