Re: Coming back to a Cav
good decision! Renaults..... Hmmm.... best get rid and find a nice cav again.. I'd not bother with a smaller engined cav unless I really had to, but I'd have another 8 valve saloon diplomat or cd/more luxury one, etc again. a superb engine on top form, different in manner to the xe powered ones, but...

Re: Would vectra hubs suspesion etc fit on a cavalier?
I looked at the bearings the other day to see if it was easy to do a 5 stud conversion on foxys cav but as you said the bearing was 2mm or so narrower on the 2.0ltrs over the v6's it'll fit and the CV will most probably not stick through the bearing as much, by 2mm in fact. this is no problemo. you...

Re: Would vectra hubs suspesion etc fit on a cavalier?
the actual front itself hub is the same as a late 5 stud calibra, so does fit in the leg inside wheel bearing. thats what is on mine as they fit inside the 288/308 disc. the rest of the front stuff is all different. vectra 4 stud hubs i believe are the same part as std Astra.cav/calibra one, with th...

Re: Southern area club meet?
ok cool, great. how about somewhere in the New Forest area? its massive, and there are loads of car parks around it, i think it would be ideal. Oh and if anyone drives up in a Cavalier turbo, they'll leave the others in the dust with 4WD  so ye anyways, how does the New Forest sound? :) new fo...

Re: size of v6 brake discs?
as the guys are saying, and to sum up if you like, the std v6 ones are 284mm with a 54mm (IIRC) pistons. tiny cav brakes are 256mm with 52mm pistons. then theres uber tiny girly sized small engined ones too. you can (and I have, as many have) fit the later really common saab 900/9-3/calibra/vectra 2...

Re: optional extras on sri
my other cav is a g plate sri and it came with Ferrari 512bbi style 6 by 14" (so std sized) possibly irmscher supplied (but with a faded MIMM badge possibly) split rim alloys, the red fronted Phillips RDS cassette player, cant remember the model number of that and the superb 3 spoke irmscher Ra...

Re: Thought I'd say hello and introduce myself.
Well that says it all really buddy. I hated automatic gearboxes before i had this auto Cavalier LS, but now i totally love it. everything about the car just made me fall in love with it. Simplicity, reliability, cost to run, looks,(to me), and just the character of the car itself. Very hard to find...

Re: Thought I'd say hello and introduce myself.
Welcome to the site mate. Gorgeous sedan u have there, liking the alloys :) Ye they sure do last, and are easier to work on than most other cars. They make total perfect sence to run, i agree, especially compared to some new flashy hatchbacks that cant carry half as much boot space or decent engine...

Re: My Diplomat "A 20 CAV", with added goodness
yeah, it did defy belief at the time. PO had an idea there was an engine fault because it ran a bit hot, also it had no gas in the aircon, and that he'd been quoted 400£ to "convert it to the new gas mate" to get it up and running again. The weepy heater matrix was making the car stink ins...

Here we are then, C20XE Diplomat Saloon daily driver:- http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v464/pitstoppete/dippybeaut/oldcav640.jpg I bought this ^^^^ from eBay as a project, a fixer-upper really, it was gonna be scrapped/broken for spares by the seller because of a few silly faults, most of which we...

Re: Thought I'd say hello and introduce myself.
why thanks for the kind words chaps. as you say above, it's the favored daily transport for people that know the difference, much nicer to own and drive than those other smaller FWD vauxhalls. I'm a mid engined and RWD man really, but the cav is just so reliable, well made and if something does go w...

Thought I'd say hello and introduce myself.
Hello guys, just signed up and about time too, as I've had the car for 5 years! I've/it's been about a bit at shows and is a little bit special, at least to me anyway:- here she is skulking outside ready for action, her number plate is A 20 CAV now and it's a Dippy saloon, all the options with an XE...
