Nice images! My dashcam died last year and I replaced it with a Garmin something or other but your right they see things you wouldn't normally. We live near a cemetery and quite often see a horse drawn hearse.

Fuel hose deterioration
Just had the CD mot'd for another year and prior to the event I had decided the under bonnet hoses were a bit on the hard side, they are the 32 year old originals. Local parts supplier supplied the Ethanol compatible hose and I tackled fitment this afternoon. Connections to the fuel rail are not par...

I replaced the front silencer (no cat) for a straight through pipe section on my CDi and quite honestly haven't noticed any difference! Still got the original rust free original in the loft - just in case!

Think you might need a different torch as the gas has to exit around the tip.

Re: Robsey's Thread of Random Ramblings.
Wishing you well! Practice and lots more practice preferably on plenty of scrap stuff first! Thin material (bodywork!) has got to be the most difficult to perfect, with something chunky there's less risk of blowing holes in it. It's also a skill that relaxes if you don't keep at it. I restored my Mo...

Re: Fuel Prices getting out of hand
Seen it at £1.83 here in Essex today - what I don't understand is the price per barrel of oil has been higher than current figures, so what exactly is going on, apart from the Government taking the largest percentage.

Re: Euro emissions
Think the article I read was in car mechanic's magazine but it highlighted 10/12 vehicles that were exempt from London's ulez zone. Some huge engined cars pouring out exhaust emissions that would leave our economical cars standing. The inference was that the list of exemptions was formed by owners o...

Not sure if this belongs here as I've never seen one on the road, only in MOT Stations! Anyone else remember these brake testers? Not sure what figure the tester would be looking for but it goes full scale on the CD! Picked it up at boot sale for £3, couldn't not! Alan https://i.postimg.cc/RqwkwMLm/...

Re: My VERY RUSTY VW T25 Camper Van Project
I know keys and old locks are a recipe for disaster and when keyless entry arrived it was the bee's knees but things change and it seems almost easier to nick a modern mota, just need a bit of 'gear' I've always kept a spare key hidden and retained by a wing nut - might involve a bit of grovelling t...

Great to see the pasts transport in use. I travelled into the 'ulez' zone recently (cost me £12.5) and I was surprised at the amount of older cars still around.

Hope your new trunking is up to the job, I replaced my CD's as it had split like yours but the new one, although doing the job, in my mind it needs to be of a softer more flexible material.

'In terms of next car for me, mk4 astra with Vectra B seats transplanted in I suspect.' Recommend the mk4! Well built and comfortable as it doesn't use low profile tyres. My 1.8 Auto easily gets high 40's on a run. https://i.postimg.cc/kR2nCHk6/IMG-20170626-093628510-HDR.jpg Robsey - what about when...

Sand for grip but it also needs some sort of detergent to break it down.

Re: My VERY RUSTY VW T25 Camper Van Project
Rear window on my Morris Minor (small window) was such a tight fit I actually ended up using a jack against the floor cross member to get it in - how it didn't break I'll never know. When I resprayed it a few years ago it had another new seal which enabled it to be fitted so easily, and without leak...

Re: Original shock absorbers
Didn't know gas units were available for the Cav. Suspension on mine has always seemed 'soft' but because of that I also find it comfortable and as you say copes with potholes well, it's quite easy to push the front down against the springs more than any other car I have had. Because of this I decid...

Re: Antifreeze Ponderings...
I looked into the waterless antifreeze that never needs changing, can't remember the name of it but it was about £45/50 for 5 litres the only downside (beside cost) was that all previous coolant had to be removed. From experience I know there is a certain amount left in the block unless the water pu...
