Re: Bedford Astravan MK2

I admire your dedication and i wish i had a fraction of your patience, bodywork and me just don't get on despite knowing preparation is key. Keep up the good work, you're getting there👍 Thanks for the words of encouragement, it's more a case of having to for financial constraints rather than having...

Re: My VERY RUSTY VW T25 Camper Van Project

Ive heard a lot of people having issues trying to register their vehicles as historic, but I didn't realise you had to change the taxation class for the vehicle to become mot exempt. I actually feel though that mot exemption is downright dangerous for the average person off the street, a lot seem to...

Re: Matts CDX - Work In Progress.

The last few febi items that I've bought have turned out to be very poor quality, bearings that disintegrate being pressed in, the rubber separating from the shock top mounts a few months after fitting etc, just check the items very thoroughly before fitting. I strongly suspect that like a lot of fi...

Re: Matts CDX - Work In Progress.

On my second cavalier the ignition switch burnt out, being skint i used to put the key in to keep the steering lock off, and picked up on the wires on the back. One flick switch to turn the ignition on and another connected to a push to make switch to engage the starter. Always meant to get another ...

Re: Bedford Astravan MK2

The above process took over 2 hours of sanding. I was absolutely covered in filler dust from head to toe, plus even with gel filled gloves, my hands virtually lost all feeling. This time I will be hopefully using a lot less filler. Here it is with its second skim applied, hopefully one more, then a ...

Re: Bedford Astravan MK2

An on going theme with this project has been me struggling with the filling work in general, but particularly with the rear quarter panels. Recently, even though I still wouldn't say that I'm any good at it, I've started to get a bit better at the process. Over the last few weeks I've been trying to...

Re: Mini Cooper Diesel Convertible.

My wife has been complaining that this car kept cutting out since she got her new job. Fault code reading it came back clear. Reading online it looked likely to be either the fuel filter, injectors or egr valve. Great i thought, huge bill coming. Then I thought id try driving it. Turns out the car i...

Re: Bedford Astravan MK2

Looking at it again this morning now the epoxy has had time to set it is slightly wavey in the one place, but its more a case of just needing to perfect the filler edge on the seam. Filling has got to be the worst job ever invented.

Re: The Wife's Vectra-C - The other battle wagon

The one on my jag was only a few months old and a Bosch, yet it still suffered total failure about 2months after the gearbox started to play up. As soon as it was replaced all issues went away.

Re: The Wife's Vectra-C - The other battle wagon

Ive found with both my Volvo and Jag, a battery that was starting to fail caused all sort of gripes, with the jag it caused the gearbox to go into limp mode yet still started ok, and with the Volvo the keyless start was a lot less responsive. In both cases a new battery cured all the issues.

Re: Bedford Astravan MK2

I'm really going to try and curb the spending, now. Hopefully I will resist the temptation at least for a while, to buy anymore parts, but I want the van to look as close to new as I can. The photos to be fair do make the quarters look a bit better, than in the flesh, however the lad I work with says ...

Re: The Wife's Vectra-C - The other battle wagon

It never ceases to amaze me when it comes to electrics effecting cars. I dont think id of ever found the wash wipe relay being the issue though, as it just doesn't make sense. Lets hope this is the end of problems with the Vectra as you've spent so much on it recently.

I nearly forgot, the other day I turned up a pair of New Old Stock headlights, not cheap but uptill now these were the only lights on the Van that I hadn't managed to source a new set.

Despite trying my best to avoid spending I've recently picked up a few more items for the project. The first was a set of 8 original wheel trims incase I ever break or lose the ones I've already got. https://i.postimg.cc/tJHhPCX4/20240505-080729.jpg They will need refurbishing but have long been obs...

I still wasn't happy with the pattern wing so have now spliced the bottom of it in to the remains of the genuine wing.

Re: Bedford Astravan MK2

I've spent the last couple of weeks guide coating then flattening down the shell. I'm still not totally happy with the rear edges of the quarter panels. They are getting there but will probably be a few more sessions until they are totally sorted. https://i.postimg.cc/ZRBTL7vn/20240505-100852.jpg ht...

Re: Why are interviewers so rude?

I totally agree with Robsey, where I used to go to school, they've just spent a fortune installing non gender specfic toilets?!? Surely this money could of been better spent in other areas? In reference to Envoy Cdx, the job offer has been received via email( I guess this is the modern equivalent of...

Re: Why are interviewers so rude?

Well done to her. I think in general it depends on your skill set and work area. If you are good at your job and in a defined area then there is usually always work out there, As I said before I wish people would show where all these jobs are. My wife has plenty of skills and qualifications, until ...

For the last 3 tests my Cav has always failed the emissions on the first run, but after a rev up and letting the fans kick in its always then had a low reading on the second run.

I really hope they don't withdraw their job offer as we've had to already hand her notice in, in order to start once the new job wants her too.
Sometimes though you have to take risks, and it means an end to Weekend and 11pm working for lets not forget minimum wage.

Re: Why are interviewers so rude?

Finally today after just about giving up all hope my wife accepted a job offer, ok the hours are a bit less than she was hoping for, but they are going to put her through a new qualification related to the field she's working in, plus they are paying the living wage, rather than the minimum or less ...
