Re: DECENT Body shop required in West Yorkshire area

Blowfelt did reply on Sunday but I didn't check my emails till late. Unfortunately he said he can't help and wasn't sure why he was mentioned for this post. Oh well. Will still keep on looking. Have someone coming to look at car on Fri so see what he says.

I've messaged Blowfelt several days ago but haven't had a reply as yet. Anyone know if he's around or how busy he might be?

Re: DECENT Body shop required in West Yorkshire area

Thank you both for you're replies. I have asked Paul the guy who did my Calibre but he couldn't think of anyone offhand but said he would rack his brains and see if can come up with someone. I had asked Troy (pre-covid) and he was going to come out to look at the welding work and give me a quote but...

DECENT Body shop required in West Yorkshire area

I am looking for a trusted bodyshop for work on my GSi. I was hoping the person I used about 17 years ago for my Mk2 Calibre would do it but when he came to check the car, he said it was too much work for him due to health reasons. I was gutted because he did an absolutely fantastic job on my Calibr...

Re: Toad Powerkey issue - GSi non start

Thank you everyone especially Robert. As always, u have gone above and beyond. Not been able to check anything as yet due to extremely unbearable hot weather. See what the coming week brings. Have got priority MOT work on my Zafira to do so need to get that sorted first.

Re: Toad Powerkey issue - GSi non start

Thank you for your input. I'll try and look at those things. Is the fuel pump relay different or same as fuel injection relay? I'd not heard of a fuel pump relay before. I've tried direct live to the pump and that works. The fuel lines have not been messed with at moment. Only the pump and fuel inje...

Toad Powerkey issue - GSi non start

Hi. I have an issue with no fuel from GSi getting to the fuel rail. The Clifford alarm initially was seized with immobiliser on but had electrician come and remove the whole alarm. GSi also has a Toad Powerkey which I think is the issue. Car was starting fine but fell off the axle stands and the fue...

Re: Cav GSi handbrake query

Hi Robsey. Yes the email has come through. I've yet to download it but can't see any issues.
Will download tomorrow and go through it with hope it's dry Sat/Sun so I can get under the car. Brilliant summer we're having. Not much for hot weather but should be dry at least.

Re: Cav GSi handbrake query

I'll go over your 'how to' a few times before attempting it. I think only issue will be where the cable is fixed on the trailing arms as they look seized.
Car is already on 4 axle stands, (front/back).

Definitely magic lol. Is there a thing on this forum where you can give thanks to someone because I know you deserve it? I thought no one was going to reply hence trying a re-post again.

Re: Cav GSi handbrake query

Thank you SO MUCH Robsey. I have looked but couldn't find anything anywhere. You'd have thought with how popular the GSi/Turbo Cavs are there'd be something on a forum or YouTube but nothing. I have looked under the car earlier before it started raining and it needs disconnecting from one hub, the o...

Re: Cav GSi handbrake query

I've tried to do a search for removing the handbrake cable but I can't find anything. Is there a 'How to' on the forum?? I've tried looking under GSi/Turbo/4x4. Thanks.

Thank you Robsey. Do you know if the cable is 2 separate cables (left and right) or 1 cable split into 2 sides?? Thanks.

Cav GSi handbrake query

Hi. I'm slowly trying to get bits sorted on my GSi that's been parked up for 15+ years and the handbrake is next. I have forgotten how it connects to the rear hubs as I dismantled it a long time ago but am looking to buy a new one in case the existing one is totally buggered. I've seen these 2 which...

Re: C20 XE coolant disappearing

Thank you for the replies so far. The hoses were hot once up to temperature. The reservoir cap has a tight seal too. Hoses are tight and no splits/cracks. The water pipe at the back of the engine doesn't show any leaks either. In fact no drips of water anywhere under the engine bay as I was keeping ...

C20 XE coolant disappearing

Hello. My Cavalier Gsi has been off road for approximately 10 years. All fluids were topped up and new engine oil put in before it was parked up. It hadn't been started for literally 8/9 years. The cylinders were lubricated with drops of oil and The crank was turned by hand to check if engine was se...

That's fine Robsey. Will have a check when weather is a bit drier but won't risk leaving just water in the engine/coolant bottle. Many thanks!

Re: C20xe - head gasket, possible failure??

Thank you Robsey for your reply - your lenghty reply is much appreciated... believe me!! Due to the lovely weather recently and busy with work I've not been able to do much further. Checked oil previously and on the dipstick it is clean, no mayo or water/bubbles. No apparent sludge in coolant bottle...

C20xe - head gasket, possible failure??

Hi All. A bit of background info: I am trying to get my GSi going again and back on the road (albeit very slowly). Had an initial problem of it starting after 8 years of it being parked. Electrician confirmed a faulty Clifford alarm so it was removed. To check the running of the car it was left star...
