Re: My VERY RUSTY VW T25 Camper Van Project
Red oxide was red lead paint. Red lead is no longer available. .
So red oxide these days is red dyed etch primer. You have to be careful with acid etch primer as it reacts with fillers and some primers

Re: My VERY RUSTY VW T25 Camper Van Project
You were so engrossed with the Capri roof, that you did not notice much else. Thankfully getting very close to completion. Did you not see the yellow and black clinical waste bag that I left with at the end of the evening. It was full of those parts, and the dash pod cover. A bit of homework. :D i ...

Re: Vauxhall Senator
When using the spot welder, make sure the pieces are clean. use a soft pad on a grinder to keep the ends nice, keep them to a shallow dome. you can buy a sharpener but the cost is stupid. use the spot welder on max power recommended for 2+2. the pieces should pull together but not bruise/mark the st...

Re: Vauxhall Senator
The biggest problem I've found with the spot welder is ALL surfaces have to be beyond clean. Most of the time I resort to plug welding to be honest. Probably be great when all the metal work is brand new but with cars I find all the old stone chip, underseal etc plus zinc primming can upset the spo...

Re: M Plate 1.8LS Saloon
Heard from the guy doing the door, he said that he spent ages getting the old paint off it, apparently it was polyurethane paint and the coach line had been lacquered over so had to take the paint back to bare metal. at least on the main part of the door. didn't even know that was a type of paint, ...

Are you just grinding off the inner sill or any spot weld drilling going on, not that I'm anal about spot weld drilling now, instead of grinding off old metal! As the spot welds are impossible to find rob's going to have to grind them out. it needs to be perfect clean steel otherwise the spot welde...

its all pretty straight forward as every plug has its own unique location. the plugs only reach certain areas of the dash.
