While i was looking at the ignition a few days ago this Westfield parked up. The registration threw me as it's only three years old

I admire your dedication and i wish i had a fraction of your patience, bodywork and me just don't get on despite knowing preparation is key.
Keep up the good work, you're getting there

Re: Matts CDX - Work In Progress.
Thanks Envoy, it's been decades since i've played around with locks. Good to know at least that bit should be doable for me. The pin at the end of the barrel sheared and wasn't engaging so for now the switch is separated and will be started with a screwdriver, not ideal but at least I can still driv...

Re: Matts CDX - Work In Progress.
I'm beginning to think this car doesn't want to be driven. After six weeks of 'house arrest' and having daily visits from wonderful district nurses i'm now recovered enough to drive to daily appointments. The car had other ideas however and wouldn't start today. I struggled to get the key in at firs...

It's fortunate your parts arrived. Parcel force took a week to get a part i ordered from Germany (2 days to arrive in UK) delivered to me. The sorting office then managed to lose it when redirecting it less than two miles away, it never did turn up but fortunately i got a replacement. The panel does...

Re: Insurance
I renewed last month with GA. It's risen from around £244 to £264 (including finance) - just under a £20 annual rise. I'm ok with paying two quid a month more, you can't get a coffee in a supermarket café for that  I did use the two main comparison sites before accepting but they were disappoin...

It's nice to see the cav getting an airing, it's looking pretty good considering the inactivity. Looking at the to do list it doesn't seem much is needed for the mot, hopefully nothing too expensive to get you back on the road

Re: My Cav Motorsport
Glasgow is heading the same way, all it will do is drive visitors away from the centre. The public transport is expensive, and makes the recent motorways to glasgow a bit pointless. I can drive there in 25 minutes, then won't be able to get into the centre. It's cheaper for me to drive in, includin...

It's fortunate they got decent weather for the show.
There are nine pages of pics here https://www.facebook.com/ScottishCarEnthusiasts that seem to have missed the mk 3's, at least they give a taste of the event.

I finally got a pass and should be picking the car up tomorrow. Here's the failure list :o Do not drive until repaired (dangerous defects): Nearside Front Suspension component mounting prescribed area is corroded to the extent that control of the vehicle is likely to be adversely affected inner wing...

Re: My VERY RUSTY VW T25 Camper Van Project
I used to be told Klokkerholm panels were the best available, now i realise it's because they're almost the only ones out there. Looking at the website they boast "We love classic cars! Klokkerholm has a large selection of panels and other parts for restorations as well as rust and damage repai...

Re: Matts CDX - Work In Progress.
Well that little bit of hope didn't last very long. The car failed it's mot. Not on the engine (i assume the emissions were tested) but for chassis rust, four or five areas including two inner sill. There's at least another five hundred quid, i hope i get more than six days driving with the latest i...

Re: Matts CDX - Work In Progress.
It's been ages and i'm still off the road-so far. What happened? Well the garage owner (who works on my car) sadly had a close family bereavement, understandably causing a backlog. In the meantime I bought a full head gasket set and bolts and a gallon of gunk, preparing for the worst but looking for...

Re: Stuff we've seen on the road
It doesn't look tooo bad to me -i've seen worse though i'd prefer one colour, probably the light blue. Customisation can be marmite, each to their own.
Though taxed until next January it doesn't appear to have been submitted for an mot since 2012, I wonder what it's like under the skin.

Re: Why are interviewers so rude?
I agree. It's not only rude it's demoralising, an email or text costs almost nothing compared to the days of paper, ink, envelope and postage. It only takes seconds to send a "sorry your application was unsuccessful" template letter. If these companies interviewers can't be sincere then pe...

Re: Matts CDX - Work In Progress.
Thanks for the input, I've bitten the bullet and am going with the head off option. It's unlikely I haven't bent valves given it's an interference engine so i've decided against the cost of further inspection, rebuild it is then. Just bought an Elring gasket set and a set of Elring bolts, £60 in tot...

Re: Matts CDX - Work In Progress.
It was three weeks before it was being changed, total bummer . It was being done at the same time as the mot, double bummer! I don't know what the word is for irrational justification but I suffer from it, i can't envisage me driving anything else, the car only has to outlast me. With that in m...

Re: Matts CDX - Work In Progress.
I picked the car up on Friday and all was good, much smoother, which wasn't surprising when I was shown the old filter. When he poured it into a jar lots of dark stuff came out, heavier than the petrol. I assumed rubber from the hoses due to ethanol but he says it was green, a colour I don't see wel...

Re: Matts CDX - Work In Progress.
Wow. Nearly a year already! Now my crank sensor problem's been sorted it's time to address the mot due in the first week of February. I now have another fuel leak, bad enough to notice this time. I'll see if I can get this sorted tomorrow and get my new old-stock gm fuel filter fitted. The car isn't...
