Can passenger side lock barrel be used on driver's side?

My driver's side lock is appalling, it's hard to get key in and it only unlocks, doesn't lock or deadlock. I can lock the car with passenger side lock (or boot) but that doesn't deadlock the car. Can I swap the lock barrels around? If not I have another Cavalier that I can take locks off but it woul...

Re: Wiring diagrams or electrics information thread - Discus

Great info! I'd like to add some ambient lighting to the footwells that comes on with interior lights but also when the ignition is turned off and key taken out, on a delay as you would find in modern cars. What would the circuit look like or can I buy something to do what I'm after? I've got lights...

Re: Want to lower my cav

What are some reasonable budget dampers/shocks to go with 35mm drop springs? Can standard shocks handle this drop?

Re: High Temperature Paint

I've seen BBQ/Stove paint mentioned for painting manifolds. Lidl recently were selling spray paint for high temperature surfaces.

Re: Camping in the Cavalier tonight.

Recently to help with shifting boxes while moving house I took the rear seat backs out (left the lower bench) to increase room. I did think to myself I could probably sleep in there quite easily with all the room... this thread confirms it! Haha :D

Re: What exhaust manifolds fit the 14NV (1.4L carb) engine?

I'm looking at getting a Weber 32/34 to replace the Pierburg carb :) I like the idea of doing something different than an engine swap and am already pleasantly surprised at how my Cav performs all things considered. I'd just a little bit more :) Plus you don't see many 1.4 Cavs about. Having said th...

What exhaust manifolds fit the 14NV (1.4L carb) engine?

Hi At the moment I have a standard exhaust manifold on my 1.4L Cav, it is the carburettor model which I think has the engine code of 14NV (is that right?). Would manifolds from other Vauxhall engines fit it? I'd like to fit a 4-2-1 style manifold for a bit more pep :) Am I right in thinking the engi...

Re: Wind Deflectors

Is it possible to get original GM deflectors for the Cav MK3 still? I'd love a set.

Bah! If only I could make it (lack of funds sadly) as the auto jumble could possibly have bits & bobs I'd like for my Cav.

Maybe next year along with Gunther (my Cavalier)!

Re: Sunroof tilts but doesn't retract/slide back.

I should be able to get some pictures of the see-saw lever arm when I do mine (I hope!) :)

Just to be sure, is it the recessed area highlighted in red that I'm looking for and to adjust?

Re: Sunroof tilts but doesn't retract/slide back.

You'll kick yourself when you see it I'll first kick myself for not spotting them, then my Dad who I got around to try and help me locate the catches, then myself again because I had another look a different day and still couldn't see them  If/when I find them I'll try to get a good photo to h...

LED 501 w5w bulb recommendations?

Hi I'm interested in changing the sidelights to LED bulbs and would also like to change the interior map reading light bulbs to LED. From what I understand they are the wedge type '501 5w5' bulbs? Are they any good LED replacements that are equal but if possible better for brightness that people can...

Sunroof tilts but doesn't retract/slide back.

Hi My sunroof tilts up, drops down to retract but then doesn't slide back more than a few MM. It did this when it was manual crank to open and still does it now that I've converted it to electric. I can get the glass out (had to rip some cosmetic trim off that was covering bolts :( ) but I can't see...

Hello :)

Hi I'm the proud owner of a 1989 (G reg) MK3 1.4 Cavalier L in champagne silver that has only had two owners (myself included!) since new! :o It has only done around 105K miles so there's still has a lot of life left in it. I would like to get it back to looking like new as an ongoing project. It ha...
