Re: Front wing removal

Awesome thanks for this Robsey.
Will I be able to reuse the rivets or are they a write-off when you pop them out?

Front wing removal

Hi all, Just a quick one, was wondering if removing the front wings is easy or a faff? I've got rust at the bottoms of both - I think where it used to have mud guards and some mud and mousture got trapped between the guard and the wing. Want to knock the rust back and respray the bottom sections bef...

Still haven't got round to starting mine yet. Would be great to see a step by step on here if someone is planning to do their arches soon 👍🏼

Re: V6 Handbrake cable

I've heard the same about cleaning the breather system. Done it a while back and there wasn't a great deal of grime in there. I've ordered a set of gaskets now, had to order the o-rings separately tho. They're coming from Germany as I've gone for Elring branded gaskets to be on the safe side. Hopefu...

Re: V6 Handbrake cable

Thanks guys, this is a great help. Which brand was going to be my next question actually but I think I'll go for Quintin Hazel too as they're meant to be decent quality. Don't suppose anyone has a part number for a full set rocker gaskets too? Another Christmas holiday job as mine are pissing oil ev...

V6 Handbrake cable

Hi all, My Cav V6 has just failed as the handbrake cable snapped under test. Now they're telling me they can't get the parts so I need to source them myself and I'm struggling. Anyone know where I can get a V6 handbrake cable set? All the one I've found say "not 2.0 and 2.5". Do I need sho...

Re: Cavalier vaules

Cavalier prices seem to be creeping up. Can only be a good thing for owners and for the survival of the remaining examples out there. I think this has to be a new record though! https://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/vauxhall/cavalier/342004?fbclid=iwar07ptb0r8knsqowpkfajrswxpvbiwk8uu9x-qpznk0f16-mln...

C25XE Mantzel Inlet Manifold?

Looking to do some of the list of improvements posted on here (lifted from Calibra forum) on my V6, namely removal of the air intake resonator box, enlarged throttle body, enlarged lower inlet manifold flange and (if I can find one) a mantzel enlarged inlet manifold. I'm aware these are very, very r...

Re: Alloy wheel paint code

I had a go with star silver 1 and after a few coats it definitely looks darker than my originals and has a lot more metalic in it. Could be my wheel have just faded a lot? Forgive me if this is a stupid suggestion but I wonder if it's worth doing another centre cap with a white primer instead of gre...

Re: Alloy wheel paint code

Amazing, thanks. Do you know which star silver it is? I think there's 3?

When I sprayed my front lower panel I noticed my new grey paint looked darker after I lacquered it. Assumed it was just that the original grey had faded so the new paint looked dark

Alloy wheel paint code

Hello all

I'm planning on respraying my centre caps as they've started to peel. Want them to look their best ready for Retrorides in a couple of weeks. Any idea what the paint code is for standard Cavalier alloys? I've got fan blades on my V6, same as facelift SRi but 5 stud. Cheers

Re: Central locking issue

Cheers both.
I've tried unlocking from the passenger side (after taking the deadlock off on driver's side) and it works fine so must be something with the drivers door lock. I'll get the handle off this weekend. Any tricks to getting the door card off without breaking all the clips?

Re: Central locking issue

The driver's barrel was really stiff for a while, I horsed a load of WD40 in it and it seemed to free up but now it's gone like this. Haven't tried the other locks, all the pins seem to go up and down freely

Central locking issue

Good evening all, My trusty V6 has developed a rather irritating central locking issue. Doors lock fine but when I go to unlock the locks immediately lock themselves. It takes a few attempts and only seems to stay unlocked if I hold the key in the unlock position and don't let the barrel spring back...

Re: Rear arch repair

Thanks both, I'll let you know how I get on. After having another look the arches on my SRi that I thought were shot, they may actually be salvageable. I'll get some pictures up at the weekend to see what you guys think. Would be nice to avoid welding as I've only ever done it once and that was in a...

Rear arch repair

Hi all, there's a very old thread on here circa 2011 that mentions there is a PDF available of an old Total Vauxhall guide to repairing rear arches. The link doesn't work anymore and the time has come for me to have a stab at doing my arches so does anyone have the pdf? :cry

SRi 20seh acceleration stutter

Hi all I seem to have a recurring problem with my SRi 8v. When I go to drive it after it's been stood for a few days or more the acceleration stutters and hesitates and occasionally stalls. Usually goes away after about 10 minutes of driving but today it was particularly bad, almost undriveable as i...

Went to this one last year. Great show, really enjoyed it. Falls on the weekend of my anniversary again so might be a struggle to persuade Lady Jones to celebrate in a field of old motors again but I'll give it a go :thumb

Re: Bluetooth module wiring

Thanks for that Robsey, that's a great help.

To save cutting into things I might just run a seperate ground cable from the bluetooth module to the bunch of grounds on the wing, if that'll work.

What rating of fuse would I want for the live?

Bluetooth module wiring

Hi all I'm attempting to fit an aftermarket bluetooth module to the kenwood cassette player I have in my Cavalier V6. It seems like a decent idea, you plug it into the cd changer plug in the back of the stereo then wire it up with a 12v 'acc' (which I assume is ignition live) and a ground. I'm using...
