Re: Mikes 2.0 Gls
There are still a few of the "old' faces on here, but times change. Depends how far back you want to go. If you are talking more than 10 years ago, then just a few of us still knocking about. Myself, Envoy CDX, James McGrath, and a few others. I think all "modern" cars are very expen...

Re: Mikes 2.0 Gls
Hey people if there is anyone left on here...Lol Well Bmw ownership is stupidly expensive and in a year I have spent £1200 so far on clutch, flywheel, suspension and braking systems and it still needs another 4-500 spending on it so I am strongly considering tracking down my Cav, I miss it, retro co...

Re: Mikes 2.0 Gls
Yup its been a while.................... Afraid to say the Cav is gone, I sold it after rust got too eager back in October 2019 to a local lad who was going to use it to do a euro rally but has since had it mot'd so it is alive somewhere around Dorchester I believe. I enjoyed the car for many years ...

Cheers Guys! As for a Southeast Meet i'd be up for something when its Not freezing..lol.. Obviously i'm the only member left down this way, sad but have to add I have spotted a White Turbo (not sure if genuine) around the Poole area and a nicely modified blue hatch lurking so with my involvement in ...

Re: Mikes 2.0 Gls
Obviously for anyone reading - It is a good idea to remove the radiator grille from the car, until you are a 1000% sure that the bonnet release works perfectly. If it does not work, at least you now have access to the release mechanism. ;) Really?!   I have a Gsi grille and tbh can ...

Re: How much is it worth
Not everyone will agree but if you are on Facebook or your son is then there are a LOT of Vauxhall groups inc groups for the Vauxhall Cavalier where people often buy and sell with a large number of viewers, it maybe worth putting an advert on there.

Re: Mikes 2.0 Gls
Hi Mike I guess you mean the rear mount, or where I think of as the rear of the box mount onto subframe with 3 bolts up side of box. Ummmmm well this one is at the front of the engine bay, bolts to the gearbox and the N/s chasis etc but all fixed now and ALL bolts replaced and no more knocking. Als...

Re: Mikes 2.0 Gls
So thanks to John we've fingers crossed found the issue, a loose gearbox mount. The front mount which should have 3 bolts had 2 in it and both were loose, absolutely no idea how this could happen but when we stuck it in gear with handbrake on and foot break depressed the engine and box were trying t...

Re: Mikes 2.0 Gls
So yet more bad news...... Seems the Cav may have shat its gearbox!! So we swapped out the Gear selector arm (genuine vaux part) as I basically lost 2nd gear unless you slammed it into gear, this fixed the issue yet a fortnight on and i've lost 2nd again and have a loud knocking coming from the box ...

Gearbox Issues
Hey all, So Gearbox issues, presume mine is F16 as mated to a C20ne ('94) but lost 2nd gear before and replaced Gear Linkage arm (metal rod that clips on each end) and all was fine, developed a knocking going into second then today driving home completely lost 2nd gear again. Wonder if there is anyt...

Re: Mikes 2.0 Gls
So quick update...... Did previously mention a new engine.... Well....after some thought and a price of £125 for a 88k C20ne lump i questioned the price and they wouldn't budge on it so as my head has issues with the plug ports and 2 plugs being basically rethreaded I have the head from the low mile...

Re: Mikes 2.0 Gls
Bonnet catches a right pain in the :ass Mine had got to the stage where as hard as you pull the lever nothing happens so required someone to lean on the bonnet to get it open. So... Got someone to do so giving me the chance to try and adjust the cable  but as per usual the bolt is so rotten tha...

I am aware that the Cav needs a fair bit of welding doing now which isn't going to be cheap so we'll see.

Re: Mikes 2.0 Gls
Finally Pics....Lmfao  So after thinking the Cav handled a bit weird it turned out the bolt in the Track Rod End of the Steering Arm had sheered off and literally disappeared so there was very little bar the threaded bar holding the Track Rod end on. Fortunately and thanks to Specialised Motor ...

Re: Changing Steering Arm / tie rod
Yup it's the arm I have to change not the track rod end so hoping I won't have to even remove the Track rod end on the strut side and unbolt and wind out the arm.
Any issues with detaching / attaching to the rack itself?

Damn no updates since January!! Oh well I got one today.......
