Re: :( Another one bites the dust. :(
I don't know....he is not a fabulous example....been a workhorse for the past ten years of his life, so a fair few dents and scratches (not by me I hasten to add....I always park him in the far corner of Tescos so no more dents appear!). Needs to go to someone who will do him up I guess, as I don't ...

:( Another one bites the dust. :(
My faithful olf TD failed its MOT last week on excessive corrosion. Looked underneath while it was over the pit (a guy was going to weld it up for me, but didn't realise the extent of the problem), and it is very rusty. Both spring hangers need lots of welding...and the floor is pretty bad too. Coul...

Re: 1.7td and alternative fuels?
we had a tankful of Bio Diesel at the farm a couple of Summers ago. I ran it 50/50...could never quite bring myself to do 100% Bio, as I had visions of it messing the fuel pump up. But he ran happily on that mixture. I wouldn't like to use it in the winter, cos of the fact it goes thick, and there m...

I remember seeing rows and rows of Land Rover Discos being stored out in the open up at Brooklands airfield about 15 years ago....and somewhere else they used to store Transits in a similar fashion...registration dates can be misleading...

Re: Racking up the miles
My old TD has only just been run in then, at a youthful 176k. :) Apparently I am told it runs sweet as a nut, and doesn't "breathe". I use him daily, and he is a workhorse, so may be in the running for the next Eric The Shed position before long. If the bodywork holds out, I am going for t...

when I was looking for a Cavalier about four years ago, there was a lovely white one on eBay....went for about £5-600-ish. Then the following week my 1.7 TD LS came up, and I got that instead.

I thought you were covered driving TO the MOT, but if it failed, you wouldn't be covered to drive it away.

Re: Small water hose name.
I did find one! :) Are they hard to get hold of then? I was directed by someone to call a chap called Cecil at a Vauxhall dealership over in Ireland. He was very knowledgeable, and knew straight away which hose it was. He gave me the part number, and I ordered it from my local dealership. Within a f...

What I have done is mooch around the few scrap cars we have here....(would you believe, no bloomin curved hoses!), and found a couple that had an L shape to them...cut them to size, put a piece of copper pipe and jubilee clips to join them, and put that on. So far so good...but not sure how long tha...

Hi Dave. That's very kind of you to offer to come and look. If I can't get anywhere, I might just take you up on that. I haven't a clue how to post pics on here. Not got Photobucket, and can't see how you upload pics. Are you on the Facebook version of this site by any chance?

Re: Small water hose name.
Hi guys. It's a C shaped pipe...goes from the back of the head and back into the block (I think...hard to see). Only about 5 inches long. Yes, if it was a straight piece I could have changed it easy. Got lots of spare pipes that would have done the job. My local motor factor can't help...they only s...

Small water hose name.
Could somebody please tell me what the small (about 5 or 6 inches long) rubber water hose is called that goes out of the back of the head, and back into the engine almost underneath it. It's underneath (almost) the air filter housing, on the right when looking into the bay. Mine has sprung a massive...
